Why did FOX sell their studio and TV production to Disney instead of making movies for the FOX NEWS crowd? Alot of movies are made in Georgia now, why not just make your own art?

For the simple reason anyone in any business does anything, to make money. If the content being produced wasn't attracting eyeballs/ad dollars/subscriptions, it wouldn't be produced.

Over the weekend I watched half of "The Two Towers" and all of "Return of the King" and it really bummed me out. Both were the extended versions, and they are so damn good. I really want to watch the Amazon version and probably eventually will, but it will sicken me if it taints my view of the others.

If I am being honest, the real reason the content nowadays sucks is because everything is run by people who have no fucking idea what an original thought is. It's run by people in their early thirties/40's who have never actually written/directed/acted/edited a damn thing, they just think they know what's good and what isn't.

Also, you have studios that are run by giant conglomerations that have shareholders to answer to. Back in the days of Shulberg, Thalberg, Evans, Balaban, Zanuck, Warner, Mayer, etc... you had people running studios that were the best of the best when it came to making movies they wanted to make, because they had made some of the best themselves. They read something and thought "yeah, I'd like to make this movie". Executives of today just want to remake what they saw growing up but put their spin on it. Not a creative hair on their bodies.

My issue has been centered around the writing, dialogue, and shots. Tolkien injected such a unique brand of old-world English feeling ornate language that makes the original movies feel timeless. The new series feels like a high-budget Dungeons and Dragons session. The writing for Galadriel and Elrond's scenes together have made me damn near cringe myself out of existence and the hobbit people are painful. Additionally, the framing and choices of when to use close-ups vs. wide angle have made the whole production feel cheapened in some spots. That being said, I actually think Ismael Cordova and Sophia Nomvete are doing great in Rings of Power. Honestly I've enjoyed the casting across the board. Huron and his wife's back and forth have been a high point for me. Feels real to my mind.

Idk, with Lord of the Ring, I feel like you have to absolutely knock it out of the park or just not try. If it was Star Wars it'd be another story since the whole thesis of that series is about expanding it's universe, but LOTR needs to stand up to scrutiny in my mind.

I said fictional lol, I agree that casting real people with a different sex/race is confusing. But then again, i've only ever seen a white Jesus so I guess theres no harm in changing real people (allegedly) either.

I watched two movies over the holiday weekend The Princess Bride on Friday and Christmas Vacation last night. I've seen both movies well over 10 times and they always entertain me. The princess Bride was directed by one of the biggest lefties in all of Hollywood Rob "Meathead" Reiner but it is absolutely one of my favorite movies. It's just a great movie with quotable lines and no preaching and making me feel bad about my heritage. Christmas Vacation is the same way slapstick humor with an underlying sweetness. Both movies made me forget about life for a little while and just be entertained.

Box office returns are a complete mess in a world of $300 55 inch 4k tvs and streaming. These are the weekend returns. From what I've heard Glass Onion and The Fablemans are excellent movies.
