Until the talented clean riders are all out with injuries.
Hypothetically, let's say Barcia took out Mooky's knee ending his career. Who would provide the retribution to stop Barcia's behavior. The sport is already dangerous enough, we don't need the riders t-boning each other.

We should have evolved as humans that we don't need rules that make it illegal to disable your fellow competitors. Riders like that are banished to being thought of a shitty person like Alessi.

Based on 2022 officiating, AMA would have dealt with Mookie geting injured by extending Bam Bam's probabtion period or some other meaningless action.. BFD

Barcia is someone I won't miss when he retires. I just hope he really goes away a d we don't have to see him call the races like other racers that won't go away

Before knowing of the penalty, he admitted on camera that he had no intentions of changing his approach, completely thumbing his nose at the AMA. Kudos to the AMA for finally showing some backbone, and I hope the fact that the penalty cost him 4th place in the series makes him reconsider. The AMA needs to extend his probation at least through 2023 and if his approach doesn't change, they'll need to increase the penalties until it does. Like many, I enjoy Barcia's personality but being a fun guy doesn't give you a pass for being a dirty rider. Unfortunately, "dirty rider" will be his legacy if this continues.

I did not know third place was considered a championship. The AMA needs to do more, no one takes the probation seriously and this kind of penalty will not change that. This is the second offense while under probation and to make matters worse Dumb Dumb just rubbed it in the face of the AMA. DQ should have been the penalty for the second offense and probation extended through next season. The third offense should be a suspension from racing for at least one race.

You keep hearing things like "its for money"; "its for the championship"; "o.k. if it was the last lap"; B.S. nonsense. There has to be a line and it has to exist throughout and regardless or we have another sport. Aggression is great; rubbin is racin is fine. But when the line is crossed the line is crossed and if excused we have a different sport all together and anyone can do it. You saw Malcolm look back cause he kind of felt it coming knowing who he just passed. That is an advantage/disadvantage situation in itself. The AMA has to develop some consistency and a better definition of the "line". Too may Barcia-like racers and the sport is dead. Thankfully most race clean most of the time - including Barcia even though he is nonetheless one of the worst offenders.

I like hard racing to a certain extent, but T-boning a guy while on probation, Barcia should of got the black flag and been disqualified. There is no consistency with the AMA. Rubbing is racing until you go too far and can possibly injure the other rider.

They should of docked him one position as well giving him a 4th. Why they didn’t is beyond me.

Especially since he was on probation. What the AMA did was beyond weak. John Gallagher would have either black flagged him or definitely would have stripped Bam Bam of third place. For rhe first year without the FIM, the AMA blew it with Barcia. Don't even bother with putting a rider on probation if you're only doing it for appearances sake like they did with Bam Bam.
