Probably won’t be a popular opinion, but it needs to be said, imo.
WHAT IN THE HELL was Jeremy Malott thinking? He creates/promotes a race primarily centered on 2-strokes and the 2 stroke sound, then proceeds to drown it all out with a continuum of loud music and constant blabber from Kelly and Izer. Unbelievable!! Sitting in the bleachers, you had a mere 2 seconds to discern that audible sweet sound of the bikes as they passed. Beyond that, it was loud music and blabber from the announcers. Totally killed the vibe of the race!!! What a let down! Whoever the brainchild was who thought this was a good idea, should be fired!! Next time, turn the dayum music OFF during the races and turn down the announcers volume by 75%, or have them commentate only before the gate drops and when the race fininshes. Let the fans enjoy the racing and the sounds. Go to a concert if you want loud music!
As an aside, I attended this race in Pomona back in 18’. There was no loud music or announcers during the racing. Just the sweet sound of the bikes. Additionally, you were given access to the pits and riders. Was one of the coolest racing events I’ve ever attended and was the reason I decided on attending this year. Only this time, I brought my 2 sons and one of their friends. Between airfare and hotel, wasn’t a cheap weekend. If this years event is a precursor of future RBSR’s, I won’t be attending another.

As far as watching the broadcast, it was pretty sweet, Weege and Blair are the dream team for sure, but I'd love for them to turn the volume up a little for the bikes... Though I guess if they have loud music and announcers while people are riding that's difficult and probably explains it.

I thought is was great and had a great time. Was actually going to comment on how awesome the trackside announcing was from Kelly and Izer. They were dropping comical nuggets left and right and some times would tie the music in as well. I also though it was great that they were calling the shots all along the rhythm as when I was standing away from the monitor I knew what happened when the riders were out of my sight.
To each their own though, guess some will bitch that they got sand in their shoes while at the beach.
250 2 stokes are the best sounding motorcycle ever, KTM’s especially.

I felt like the event in person was a bit lifeless from the fans, like my whole section had no idea who cooper Webb was… or hanny they barely knew barcia and didn’t cheer…. Also me personally I felt like the crowd was more baggers/flat track/ kinda fmx/ with kinda surf…. It didn’t feel like our moto crowd who goes to A1… but that is my own opinion of what I saw.
The event needs to improve, and be longer.. I’d like to see a legends bracket of racers.. and also a fmx bracket of racers.. along with the current supercross class bracket as well.
The announcers did a awful job of hyping the crowd up, for who was in the gate next.. I don’t know if they couldn’t see or what, but they didn’t mention the rider by name until they hit like the 2nd speed scrub wall.. it was like a delay from the start until they recognized they were going.
That said I’ll give mine. It would be very boring to me if it were just strictly bikes, and dead silence waiting on the next bikes to line up.
Supposedly one of the guys disrespected the other guys girlfriend, or whatever in the eff it was. Nonetheless, it was a complete shit show for a few minutes. One of the guys was bloodied up pretty bad.
Give me dark beer and 180° turns.

It was an epic day of great, close racing, and some of you still just want to bitch...
My take on the event with some good and bad.
Goods:
- Cool track layout. The big table top was pretty epic, would be cool to see two of those.
- Best shirt of the event.
- Plastic temporary walk ways. Made a lot easier then walking on beach sand.
- Bathroom set-up was not bad.
- The grandstand I was sitting in, this guy was working his ass off keeping people from standing in front of the first 3 rows. Red Bull did not pay this guy enough.
The Bad:
- WTF was up with the grandstand sitting? Blue arm band ($65.00) grandstand, red arm band ($45.00) down in the dirt. They just let everyone up in the grandstands. We had about
10 people in our area with red arm bands on, who were drunk, smoking and wanted to fight everyone. They failed major on ticket sells and security on who gets in what area.
- Announcing, simple, horrible or I should say HORRIBLE.
- Food/ food trucks was set up for 100 people, which there was over 15,000. Over an hour to get food. I watched people go get food and get back about hour and a half latter. Big fail
- Not much fan/rider interaction. Think AP was the only one to come over on the fan side.
- Felt sorry with moms with baby strollers and also wheelchairs. Watching Moms trying to push baby strollers through the beach sand looked tough. (They did have a handicap section).
I had fun but I think Red Bull failed overall, but I’m sure the money they made will make it to the bank.

The longest lines of the day, all day, were for the food and Drinks/beer.
There was always a line or crowd around Ronnie Macs tent if that says anything about who attended and what they were there to see.
I don’t think many that were there actually cared about “who” was racing other than the few die hards. We were in the minority.

All around the perfect place
I do want to note that as far as the sound went on the broadcast, it was Outstanding... why's that? Because not only could I clearly hear the smoker's engines screaming, i could also hear when they were bottoming out their suspension! which i've rarely heard on the TV feed... One of Hanny's runs was insane how many times, and how hard, he was bottoming out....
Regardless, I was in the last set of bleachers right in front of the whoops and could hear every sound as they ripped through the whoops with a party atmosphere in the background. Just right IMO other than the rain.
