Not sure if this has been posted but this week Specialized put some of their e-bikes on sale (along with some analogs) and I figured someone may be interested in a great cross training tool. I also want them to run out of stock, so the prices go back to normal, and I won't be so tempted to trade my first gen Turbo Levo in.

Turbo Kenevo SL Comp and the Turbo Levo Comp...which one better for what I'd like to do?
From what I hear the GNCC guys are on full boost at all times so I think the SL wouldn't be as good of a choice as the Turbo Levo Comp.

Someone may correct me but I'm pretty sure the SL is both not as powerful and has a smaller battery. For me it would just be the Comp Alloy and upgrade components as they show their weakness.

An E-Bike will change your life.

Interesting, my local specialized dealer said they were going direct to consumer on the low end bikes, Turbo Levo Comp Alloy included. My question, how do you pick sizing based on the website description? S1-S5. If I could go to local dealer and try them out, would be ideal.

Those Turbo Levo's have some monster batteries. 700 wh should keep you in the saddle all day. My Giant is 625wh and it goes circles around Tazers 502wh battery.

Yep, that's my local dealer. They indicate that as a dealership, they will only sell the highest level Specialized ebikes. Specialized is going to a website sales approach and cutting dealers out of the standard ebike biz.

They did have a graphite Levo in stock, but it was an S4 and I'm looking at the S2/S3 range. Can't imagine buying a $6K bike online only to find out its the wrong size.

So the best buys are the Alloy and Carbon Comp's. The SL is half the power but 10 lbs lighter. Unless your a hard MTB rider don't get the SL. They are going fast. I ordered 2 for customers last week and one is already delayed.

I ordered 2 last week at the discounted price. Dealers can get them and still make money on them.

They have a size guide that can help. You enter your information and take a few measurements and they output the size recommended. It's been accurate in my experience.

Yeah but it affects the handling a lot. I've got a tazer and have never run it out of battery and I've swapped bikes with buddies with the monster batteries and they handle like dump trucks. I'll be honest that I don't have much time on a levo though so maybe they figured it out.

I have the Turbo levo carbon comp. There were no Sworks to be had when I bought it so I made my own.
I am happy to trade off not having the larger motor and battery for how close it is to an acoustic bike.

Talked about this with a group of riding buddies last year we were all talking about getting one until we looked up prices. 6-15k. Just not a chance in hell any of us were gonna pay that. It's not a we can't afford it thing it's a that's fucking insanity for a bicycle. Ww know the bike market is retardedly expensive to begin with but still. What we wondered the most is what the profit line looks like.

I totally get it, but if you have a decent amount of places to ride them close to you then they are absolutely worth it. I can drive 45 min and have 10 places to go and many of them are much closer than that. My buddies and I all have them now and we ride a few times a week. Plus when you get done you just plug them in. No filters, power washing, etc. There is some maintenance for sure but nothing like a moto bike. Not to mention they are a total blast to ride.

The price is insane right up until you ride one.

It wasn't a mountain bike but we went to the eBike store to look at a city bike for my wife. She rode away from me and the owner who were standing in the parking lot. After she turned around and headed back at us my only comment to the owner of the bike shop was "I just lost all bargaining leverage, didn't I?" Her grin was a mile wide.

Yep I know it’s coming. Even their regular model MTB the status 140 and 160 can now be ordered online D2C. It’s only a matter of time until all the brands cut the middle man out. YT, Canyon, Commencal, fezzari, etc are killing it with price to component value ratio. I have a Santa Cruz but am eyeing these D2C companies for my next bike.

That's the deal, so many more places to ride and the E-Bike makes it fun. It will never replace a motorcycle but its now a regular part of my routine. Mine stays on the back of my SUV until I hook up my trailer.

A Levo will be my next purchase. Im just torn between a standard or the SL. I demo'ed a standard alloy comp. Havent tried the SL. I lean towards the SL because most trails I ride are tighter and technical. But if I do a emtb race (like gncc or local series) some people say I'd get smoked on the SL. Anyone have any experience racing the SL?

When you demo if you can do it on a good trail and not just in the parking lot. Personally I like having the full power setup.

In 2012, I spent $6K on a brand new leftover 2011 KTM 350SX, so I'm with you. But I can ride a bicycle everyday.

Can you not ride a motorcycle everyday? Look, I'd like to have one, especially for hunting public land but $6k is just ridiculous. I paid $6.4k for my motorcycle and $200 for my bicycle, granted there isn't a battery and motor but I can't see that costing $5.8k. to each their own I guess.

The whole “I can buy a motorcycle for that much’ argument doesn’t hold a lot of water. You can also buy a refrigerator for that much. Or golf clubs. Or a watch. They are all different things. Also my husky doesn’t have a carbon frame with stock ohlins suspension front and rear yet it was 2k more than my tazer. I just know if I have the option I’m grabbing my tazer far more than my TX300 mainly because it’s just so much fun and far less work before and after the ride.

If you have a $200 bicycle it wouldn't last a month of riding 2 days a week on any decent mtb trail. If you are just cruising along a paved path with the wife and kids it's fine but that's not a quality bike. Besides I bought my bike used and I could sell it for as much as I paid for it so it cost me basically nothing. A guy with a $200 bike is out 200 bucks when he is done with his bike.

Ordered a couple of Turbo Levo Comp Alloy's last week for my wife and I from Roy's last week. I've wanted an E-Bike for a while and this sale made it a lot more reasonable. Not cheap, but it will be a lot of fun.

Been on the mtb fence for ages now but thinking of giving it a go. Thinking of starting with a cheap hardtail (not EMTCool and see how much I get into it. Or would you say, no one is going to have fun on a cheap hardtail and I need to spend a bit more to begin with?
