Jeremy martin did a pro mountain bike race recently. Heart rate avg 190 for over 2 hrs. Ive done my fair share and the tough ones always have you asking why did i sign up and pay for this? lol.
Theres gotta be some other riders training hardcore and putting up some results.

Hannah, O'Mara, DB, RC, Stanton, Stew (with Baker), JMart, Tomac, Sexton (2022), Blake Baggett (250F days) come to mind. These guys could rip at the end of a moto.

Jett had a few rides this year where he clocked the fastest lap near the final lap.

Fittest, not fattest. As in in shape. Technically round is a shape, but not what he’s talking about.

General fitness or motocross fitness? I think there’s a bit of a difference.

Based on the late moto lap times and how a rider looks right after a moto I say Chase. He sure looked less spent than Eli. Chase’s riding style is so smooth I’m sure he uses less energy than Eli and therefore probably has better on bike fitness. But I bet if they go for a brutal mountain bike ride Eli has him covered.

So I’m going with Chase for on the bike fitness and Eli or Alex Martin for general fitness.

There's a reason why Eli allowed Jeremy Martin to come up to the ranch to train those two are complete animals on the mountain bike lol

Honorable mention to Barcia. His lap times are usually very fast at the end of the races

You would have to think Chase Sexton deserves to be in the conversation based on 2022 outdoor series results

I'm assuming your logic is how much more energy it takes to ride like Eli, versus riding like Chase or Jett?
My opinion doesn't mean jack but I totally agree...

Off the bike probably Kenny. He was always the sharpest looking rider out there, but obviously that doesn't always translate into racing fitness. Look at Jason Anderson for example, he looks like a normal dude who never worked out regularly (obviously he does), yet he is one of the guys who can always lay it down late in the moto, absolute beast, specially with his riding style.

Tim Gajser is also a beast when it comes to fitness and moto endurance, what he did in the first half of the season this year was insane.

Ferrandis last year was some mindblowing shit..

I also don't understand how Sexton doesn't even sweat after going that pace this year for 30+2.

As DV said, on the bike based on their style, probably Tomac and I think Anderson aswell.

Does anyone else remember how ripped Tomac was back then when he was still training with Ryan Hughes? I'll post a video here. He looks more like a normal fit guy now, but on the bike he might be in his best form ever.. So yeah, as already mentioned in this thread, there is a big difference between off the bike and on the bike fitness.

"Eli has a dad bod" might be the most incredible take I've ever read on here

Everyone seems to think fitness is how ripped you are. Not how cardio works. There’s people who some think are super fit based on appearance, but when it comes to cardio fitness they got none.

Tomac for sure. Then probably all the Honda guys minus Ken. But of all time I would say RC after he got off the Dairy Queen and McDonald's program and started training with Aldon. Dungey, RV, and J Mart. Honorable mention to Baggett and LaRocco. Those 2 always put their best laps in late in the motos.

I think the wording was just bad, I meant that he isn't in his shredded form like 10 years ago. He looks like a normal fit guy now, not like someone with super low body fat anymore. All I meant to say is that how guys look doesn't translate to racing fitness, which is true.

True but they don't have the access or money to train like the top guys. If they are lucky to be on a team that covers their expenses and flights, that's one thing. But guys like "Fast Freddy" Noren was driving around the country in a box van with his wife and mechanic for awhile. Not much time to train while doing that. What about the guy in the clapped out Ford Aerostar who was hitting the races.

The one guy I always wondered about training wise was Kevin Windham. He raced before everything a rider did posted was posted on Instagram, Facebook, etc. I honestly think he just got by on his amazing natural talent and riding some practice moto's during the day, maybe some lite cardio. I often wonder how he would have done training with a guy like Aldon.

What do you mean with "access or money to train like the top guys"? Most of them work out in a normal gym? You also don't need a fancy 6k bicycle to make cardio work. I know that some riders pay a lot of money for good trainers, but there is also top riders that just get their plans and work out on their own.
But when it comes to riding fitness, you're probably right. Not every privateer has the opportunity to train on the best facilities whenever they want, with a practice mechanic and fresh parts whenever they need them.

I'm talking about a program like Aldon's. Which has been very beneficial to rider's careers but also took years off their careers and burned them out. It was like a military boot camp according to the guys who where there. That's why Kenny, Webb, and Anderson left. Also why RV, RC, Bubba, Dungey, etc. retired so early. Plenty of interviews out there to let you know how it went. Sounded miserable, but did make them champs. Just look at RV's face the last few years he raced, he hated it.

Yeah I've heard enough about Aldon, I think the most information I got was from the double Ryan interview at the whiskey throttle show. But my point was, you don't need an expensive fitness coach to become as fit as the top riders OFF the bike.

With what you said above in mind, if you were a 10th place guy with the opportunity to go work with Aldon, would you take it? I would.

Based on the fact that you not only get a personal trainer, but a mental coach, someone who does health and food plans and an unreal moto facility, no question, yes. Not to mention his history with riders success. But it also has its price. There is a reason he only takes 2-3 riders per year.

100% for sure. But I would also get burnt out after 3 to 5 years. But with the money I made I could live off the rest of my life would be worth it. But that 3 to 5 years of training would suck. The guys in the mid 90's to the early 2000's had it made....until god damned RC came along! Lol

I'll agree to disagree. Outside of Eli, J Mart, and Anderson. Who are all factory guys, who else has done it without a coach of some sort?

Yup, he has built his career around picking off riders in later stages of moto's and being able to push when other riders can't
