It's lousy.

I guess it's a way of adding value to the VIP package, by subtracting it from the regular ones. Otherwise apart from better seating location there wouldn't be much that the VIP package has over regular tickets for the crazy prices they're charging for it.

You'd have thought the stadium would want to let everyone in early to sell beer & food.
I hadn't checked the price, ouch!
I hope you get a nice buffet and open bar for that amount of money.

Right so straight from the horses mouth, as it was laid out in black and white (eventually) it shouldn't be a surprise, I was just kind of hoping it wasn't the case, but it is correct that if you have any of the various different non-VIP tickets you're just in for the 17:00 > 20:30 races themselves.

To give them some credit, they replied themselves in half an hour on a Saturday night and they gave the reasoning that it costs them more money to open up and allow access to different sections so they're just opening the VIP section gate early on, and they believe this is standard for AMA Supercross too?

So all said and done, it's disappointing it wasn't laid out better initially and it's a bit disappointing in general as typically this goes against all other motorsports formats that I've ever watched in person, BUT most other motorsport aren't in a stadium so I guess a direct parallel can't be drawn and weird intricacies like this can pop up.

Man, sorry to hear that. Definitely not the standard, watching practice is part of the experience in motocross, supercross, GPs and any other racing I have ever attended.

I'm sure they will remedy this in the future.

That's not good.

The general Ticketmaster Event Info clearly states that the gates open at 15.30 and there's no indication that it only applies to VIP tickets or that for non-VIPs the gates actually open at 17.00.

But they do seem to have a get out clause in the terms and conditions. You can be sure that there are going to be a lot of pissed off people waiting at the gate while they can only hear qualifying.

I may have worded that badly Elliot, sorry for any confusion, one gate opens for VIPs at 13:00 and qualifying and whatnot takes place then.

Remaining gates DO open for us commoners at 15:30, however nothing happens from 15:30 until 17:00 when heats and finals run until 20:30, so it's probably wise to get in and get settled around 15:30 👍

My concern was missing qualifying, which is happening. I understand why this has ended up being the case given they are charged for opening more areas individually and as you said before it is the only thing that really makes the VIP ticket worthwhile.

I’m not here to shit on WSX. I just want to clarify in case anyone reads this who might think about planning a supercross trip to the states. Supercross opens the doors for qualifying practice to everyone with a ticket no matter what ticket it is. You usually have to pay for a pit pass to go into the pits or you can bring a can of monster energy (empty or full) to get into the pits without a pit pass.

Oh ok, that was a straight up lie then 🤣 Thank you for clearing it up, I thought it sounded odd but it seamed feasible.

I'm definitely keen to try and make the trip one day, something about the American-ness of AMA SX is just plain fun, but have other priorities right now, thanks again for the info 👍

Understood. Just checked the schedule and Event Info again and I can't see anything that says that VIPs get in any earlier to watch qualifying? So it looks like they under-marketed the benefits of the VIP package as well as screwing the regular ticket holders.

I did go to an Anaheim once as a mate was riding and I'm sure everyone got to see qualifying like someone said.

It's a cool stadium, I went to see a Premier League there. At least the stadium's got a retractable roof so it won't be a mudder. Hope you have a good time.

For sure, I bought tickets on the first pre-release thing and it would have been tough to swallow but I would have stepped up from the priciest non-VIP ticket to the VIP if it meant qualifying, but I had no clue, maybe that was my fault though as I miss the point frequently haha, but I'm sure I didn't read it on there.

So, how do we watch these races? So many people complaining, I just want to watch dirt bike racing pretty much of any kind. Hell, I'm excited to be watching EX.

Don't blame yourself: TBA global gave very scarce info about anything, and veeeeery late.
Still no official track map, streaming site still not launched...
I've been looking yesterday for info about what's in that "VIP package" that could justify the 370$, couldn't find it.

I thought Chad Reed was skipping Cardiff and starting in Oz, when did that change? I'm all for it, that's a positive imo.

Track looks decent, and not to argue with anyone but being fair it is about as different from the previously posted in here AMA track map as most supercross tracks are from each other, a couple of the lanes aren't even in the same place and they're all different rhythms, so I understand a lot of the arguments with WSX but that one is a little hollow, it looks solid 👍

Chad realized he'll never be world champion if he misses half of the season.
