Why don't the GP's change the name of the series to "European Motocross Championship"???

It only makes sense, they leave Europe to race only, what?, twice a year (at most)??? How does that make them a true "world" championship series? IT DOESN'T!

They don't even come to America, let alone Austrailia, New Zealand, Canda, Mexico, Russia, Japan, South Africa, and every other country that has an MXdN team. So how are they a TRUE "world" championship series? THEY AREN'T!

Given the state of the economy the FIM should drop the two non-european rounds anyway...the teams could stand to save the money. And change the name of the series to the "European Motocross Championship Series"

Plus, it would eliminate about half the bench racing on the internet...and as a result give mccread some time away from the computer to brush his teeth, take a shower, and see the sun (the dude seriously spends all day every day on the computer constantly defending the GP's...and that ain't healthy).

How About it???

Not when I had tea with them this morning...they said (no kidding "europe" said this):

"That is the best idea we've heard in a long time, and we'd love to do it, but we have to get that mccread fellow out of Europe first. And though that sounds easy enough, he smells so bad that no person is willing to get close enough to him to remove him from the continent. So unless you're willing to do that, sorry, not much we can do."

To which I replied: "I see your point, good day"

True story...Europe told me that.

while they're at it... why not instead of calling the winner world champion... give him the title of "fastest man in the universe".

We invented MX and we'll call it whatever we want.

You all should have stuck to riding your Harleys round horse racing ovals.

We'd all be better off.

Ah nice. You know in all seriousness it would be good if they could have , say 5 rounds here a couple in OZ/NZ and 5 in Europe with the best riders from The US, OZ/NZ/SA & Europe competing.
That would be a true world championship.

I thought everyone agreed on Ivan Tedesco being the fastest man in the universe. I mean he did win in Colorado, so he must be right ?

that would be great, and more economical than travelling to a whole bunch of different countries.

But I think a true "world" championship should hold at least one round on each continent so long as one country on that continent has an mxdn team.

Like a round in England, Italy, France, America, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Austrailia, New Zealand, Japan, Russia, then maybe Mexico, Portugal, Germany, Sweden, Ireland, China...and maybe two rounds in the larger countries that would be readily attended like America, France, England, Australia etc.

That would be a "true" world championship and i think if that was the case, the manufactures would get behind it, and then the sponsorship dollars would get behind it, and then it would attract the top talent and truly become the premier motocross championship in the world. Whtat the GP's are today, aren't what they were intended to be (I'm sure any logical person can admit that...if they put pride aside). And it's a shame that ANY "national" championship in the world is even considered competition for the so called "world" championship.

That's those Euros for ya, they think the world revolves around them. They started a world war over there too before we were even invited. How about regional championship series? With riders advancing to the AMA championship.

How about calling Baseball by it`s proper name of "rounders" and calling it The American Rounders Championship and then calling "soccer" by it`s proper name of FOOTBALL, then you could get rid of those girly helmets and pads you guys wear playing that wannabe rugby game. Just a thought like.

We could call rugby by the proper name of "homo-erotic ball grabbing." I think by not having a GP round in america is absurd. We already have your top riders why not come here to them so they can win again.

Speaking of the GP's.. What ever happened to the RWJ Honda team? Seems after the whole Mike Brown fiasco, they just dissapeared. Lack of $$??

This keeps cropping up.

There was due to be a round of the World Championship in America this year, but a few greedy American real estate agents kinda scuppered those plans, along with the round that was due to take place in Brazil. The World Championship regularly travels to countries outside of Europe and has, over the years, been to Australia, Brazil, the US, South Africa etc etc.

Unfortunately for a motor racing series the cost of travelling to circuits all around the world is immense and unlike Formula One Motocross is still very much a niche sport with very little investment. But the main reason we dont have a unified, global series is because America is too absorbed in its own business to entertain the thought of embracing a World Championship. Why travel all around the world, conversing in strange languages, eating unfamiliar food, racing on a whole range of different tracks when you can just stay at home, eat Taco Bell and ride the same 12 or so circuits every year for your entire career?

Its sad, but while Stewart, Villopoto and Dungey are probably regarded world wide as the three fastest riders on the planet right now, most fans outside of America will have more respect for guys like Mike Brown, Sean Hamblin and Zac Osborne. Even if racing GP's was not their first choice, they learned to respect the World Championship and realised its not as plain sailing as most Americans are led to beleive.

I don't see this as a problem for the GPs or it's spectators. Maybe this is more of a jealousy issue for some ? Of course a majority of the races are located where the business/cash is. Just like the Nats being a more of an east cost thing. Also it's best for the teams not to travel to fare because of transportation costs. It's as close as a real world championship we all can produce for the moment, it has been that way for many decades. Prolly less outside European countries because of the lack of cash recently. You being constructive and have a better suggestion, or are you just trying to provoke by pissing on the "other" series?
