Hope you are alright down there.
Looks like you guys took the direct hit - nearly a CAT 5 with an un-godly huge surge.
I seen Sanibel is completely under water along with some other islands in your area.

Up in the Tampa area we didnt get hardly anything just light rain and 40+MPH winds and actually minus tides from the storm pushing the water away from us.

The storm is now headed towards central FL more inland.
Looks like it's going to go through Polk County tonight ( Haines City area where the Stewart compound is).

I'm in St Pete and was feeling pretty nervous a day ago before it turned east into cape coral and Ft Myers. We got lucky, again, but I feel for those down there. Didn't look good.

Yeah - they had our area getting a direct hit with a 8ft to 15ft surge or so just the other day..
Mandatory evacuation zones A,B & C in Pinellas County.
I know some folks that live on the island/beaches - treasure Island ,Madeira & Redington that thought this was it and they were gonna lose everything. They ended up leaving per the evacuation orders and planned ahead.
Down south I think they got evacuation orders last with very little time to do much other than get things in order and shelter in place...which is really sad.
These things are pretty unpredictable on where they are actually gonna make land fall.

Best wishes to my fellow Florida’s, I’m in Lakeland myself. It’s getting pretty bad now with gust of wind at 50+ and the worse is to come. As of now tho, still have power.

Stay safe & hopefully your power stays on.
Pressure of the storm has gone up and its weakening some.
But you guys are getting a ton of rain due to how slow it's moving - hopefully no flash flooding.
If you lose power watch this stream on your phone https://www.abcactionnews.com/video/abc-action-news-now
They been allover the storm with great info.
Good luck to you - it will pass and get back to normal soon.

SouthEast Florida…Palm beach county and below, for the most part was spared any major damages, some wind and minor flood damages… have not lost power yet..we got lucky but the west coast impact was substantial, the news is stating the fatality numbers will be in the hundreds, hopefully they are wrong…

Checking in, hope everyone else is safe!

We lost power at about 7 last night, ran the small generator just for some fans and what not. Woke up at 7 this morning to see my ceiling fan going and all my fish tanks pumps and what not working fine in my room. Dad said we got power back around 5 am this morning. No damage to our house, but the neighbor a few houses down took a big ass oak tree right through the roof to their master bedroom. Fort Meyers looks tragic though, I am probably working in that area Friday morning so I will see if I can snag some pictures.

My brother and his fiancé live way out east, they came and stayed with us. In his county 99.6% are without power. They just left 30 minutes ago to go see the damage. My mom stayed with us too, she lives right by the beach in Bradenton and her house was all good.

Seriously hope everyone is all good.

That guys just here to cause trouble, just ignore him.

Glad you are ok, some places got lucky, some places didn't even all the way through Orlando and Daytona. The situation on Sanibel island looks especially grim, the road is washed out and there is not route to the island, hope most people left before the storm hit.

We Texans had the electrics shut off during Bidens dark winter and nobody round the country gave a crap, 50 or more Texans died, where was Ted Cruise? The wind turbines really worked, worked themselves frozen, nobody gave a foque. I had pipes burst in my house, and it flooded the downstairs. Nobody gave a shit. I wasn't trying to be insensitive; I was talking about something else. Something is causing this, and only open-minded folks will understand. We had a hurricane hit Houston and nobody gave a foque, nope had some buddies in Beaumont died, but nobody gave a foque. To the folks in Florida, I hope and pray for the best!

My brother went back out to assess the damages. He lives in the middle of no where and was driving a Powerstroke with a 5” lift on 35s and water started seeping through the bottom of the doors going up his driveway. He put it in reverse and blew out of there. He pulled like 4 different people out who were driving their sedans and getting stuck on the drive back to town. Really hoping his house is good, it’s pretty high above the driveway but it’s a mobile home. He was going to keep it up even after he built his forever house on the property.

Can’t use cell service, but can text. Wifi is working just fine though, might go drive over the bridge and check the beach out.

Hoping the best for him. Devastating shit, I was speechless watching it on the news. I go there two times a week for work, it’s a very real perspective knowing what an area looked like before. I imagine the cell towers are still down there, still are down just south of me.

I had a very broken, very partial conversation with him. Cell towers are down and, getting sentences through was nearly impossible.

As far as damages, it really isn’t my place to speak of but, it didn’t sound good.

I was just happy to hear his voice.

We got hit with huge hailstones here in the UK, 10 years ago, an area about 3 square miles, pretty much every car was totalled, roofs were badly damaged , we dont get stuff like that here .

Luckily , we were all out at work, an none of our vehicle were damaged, but my neighbour had £100k worth of cars , and £60 of house damage.

My thoughts go out to those who got the worst.

Marco island, wind was not too terrible. Storm surge was worse I’ve ever seen it by far. Street side mailboxes were about underwater. Multiple neighbors boats floated off lifts (non full time residents weren’t here to prepare boats), now we can’t find them. Couldn’t tell difference between the streets and the canals.

Damn it! Man I'm glad he is ok. The damage caused down there is truly biblical.
