Getting my 21 Crf450 ECU remapped. Is there a “works edition” ECU?

Finally, scheduling my 21 CRF450WE ECU to get remapped at the dealer. Is there a separate “works edition” ECU or does it get the same version as the regular 450 version? Dealer said he doesn’t know if they’re different because all it does is compare the numbers vs the new map? 🤷‍♂️

Thanks!

Part number for WE vs part number for non WE be a starting point?
Thanks. From what I understand, it’s just a process that is “done by hooking up the computer and getting it to update the ECU” so I’m not sure there’s a part number. Apologize if I misunderstood your comment

Not 💯 but I believe the dealer service software has a bike model specific menu to choose from.

Been a while since I had mine done… So the way I understand it regardless if they are the same or different mapping for WE vs. R, the tech simply selects the correct model bike to update the ECU - you’ll get the correct one. The tech that did mine had never done it, but just followed the service instructions, nearly stupid proof.

After they map it recommend mashing all the map/TC/HS modes before you load up to make sure everything is working properly… I didn’t have much confidence in the tech 🤨 Once you ride it, you’ll notice how much cleaner it runs.

Thanks for the information! This is what I was looking for. Not looking to go third party, just want to make sure there is or isn’t a separate ECU from HONDA for the works version

Athena/Get make a WiFi unit that lets you change the OEM ECU with your cell phone. My friend bought one from a fellow Vital member, and it works great. I'm surprised that more Honda owners aren't aware of this option.

Not to hijack the thread but I’m getting ready to list for sale my 21 Crf450r Vortex. Mapped by Chad at XPR ,made a great difference for the better on this bike. I had my stock ecu remapped first and then after a recommendation from K.Keefer I purchased a vortex and had it mapped by XPR. Definitely go with the vortex!
If you are interested in a used one in excellent condition (used for 3 hours) that’s already mapped let me know.

Oh hey I thought you were asking if the WE had a different ECU than the non WE and therefore each contained a different map and then the dealer would have to pick the correct update.

A quick look at Honda online parts shows different ECU part numbers (last 3 values) across the CRF450RWE vs CRF450R

They use different part numbers because the programming is different. The units are physically and electrically identical.

My understanding is that you must contact Honda of Japan at 1-800-werxecu. They do require your AMA Pro license number and that you've qualified for Loretta's 450B.
