Sexton and Jettson on 450’s, Kenny’s expendable.

Sexton on the RedDevil for '23, then maybe KTM. There are rumblings already.

Y’all are silly. Kenny may say dumb stuff sometimes but he’s legit one of only a handful who can put it up on the top of the box indoors and outdoors. It’s so crazy when a top 5-8 guy in points who can still win actual premier class races can’t seem to have a ride finalized yet. It really shows how small and niche this sport really is.

Redbull just announced he’d be racing straight rhythm on Oct 15. So I’m guessing whoever he’ll be signed with after Oct 1 would have to be affiliated with Redbull, and Honda doesn’t make 2 stroke bikes.

If he runs the 06 again that would be awesome. I just figured him and Honda would be hyping it up a bunch like they did last time if that was the case.

Not silly when that "top 5-8 guy" thinks he's entitled to perennial title-contender money. That's the difference.
If he was only wanting 5th-8th place money he'd have a seat.
Well, actually I'm not sure any teams are willing to put up with the circus he brings with zero potential for a championship.

Am I the only one that thinks his post has been blown way out of proportion? I know he has beef with Honda at the moment, but I can fully see him sitting waiting while his team sorts his bike out so that he can keep on practicing, and snapping a pic for his gram without quite thinking it through. I don’t think that it was an intentional dig at honda…..many possibilities

Except he has finished in the top 4 of every season he completed in the last 3 years. And won races in every series during that span. By your definition you are saying that only the top 2-3 guys deserve “real money”?

This type of mentality is what blows my mind about this sport.

Well he was able to win an outdoor this year. I’m not sure where you get off accusing him of thinking he is “entitled” to champion level pay, considering he’s won championships in the past.

Its not so much about being entitled to the pay, he earns the salary and bonuses that he negotiates from the free market. Do you think Ken would accuse you of feeling “entitled” to your $50k a year job ?

The industry is done with Ken, you'll see. Championships years ago only get you so far, when your entourage is a headache and you have to post about all your haters a few times.
Kenny the family man seems like an awesome dude, Kenny the racer seems like a nightmare to work with. Ask RC.
He was THE golden child for years, it was hard not to love the guy. Especially after the injuries and what it took to come back. But man his persona has taken a huge hit the last few years.
As for where I get off saying he's entitled....well, on an internet forum with tough guys like you talking about my job lol.

He won't get championship level pay because he has proven for the past several years to either have significant mental/confidence issues and/or gets sick about every other week. Can he win races? Yep. Will he be at the front consistently? Highly unlikely. I feel it's self confidence since his major accidents, but he deflects it by blaming his bike, "sickness", or whatever other thing he comes up with.

Those saying Ken is done and shouldn’t get a factory bike cause his title were years ago still think Bogle should get a ride based on a moto win 6 years ago

Nobody is saying he shouldn't get a factory ride just because his titles were years ago. It's well known he wants top-tier money, when it's clear as day he isn't a SEASON-LONG top-tier rider anymore.
Add to that he's incredibly difficult to work with, always throws the bike under bus, and his "doesn't have to be out there" persona.
NOBODY is putting money on him to win a title, but that's the money he's apparently demanding.
In my opinion his attitude over the last couple years has tarnished his image enough, teams aren't willing to throw that kind of money at him anymore.

Kenny's stock has for sure gone down and not because he isn't a top contender but because Honda have 2 of the best riders on the planet right now in the AMA.

Sexton is on big money and in they will be looking for big money to keep him, Jett moves up for MX you can bet thats massive money.

Doesn't leave much for Kenny who will basically be a 3rd tier rider when MX comes if he is to hang around.

With all that what other options as far as factory rides go does ken have, who's hiring? Who's looking for a 2nd/3rd tier rider commanding $1m+ a season?

The issue with Kenny signing a new contract. Is that fact he was on a massive overpriced contract to try and get a championship. Something like 4mill a season. So to drop back to say a 600k contract it's a massive kick in the nuts. If he was on 1mill the whole time to drop down a few hundred k wouldn't be as big of an issue.

I agree with this 100%.

Just group the riders by tiers

Tier 1 - Guys that are legit threats for championships.

Tier 2 - Guys that can win races but aren't championship threats.

Kenny is no longer a tier 1 guy. He can win a few races a year but he isn't a threat for a championship anymore.

Hit the nail on the head with that comment. Issue with Kenny is he still thinks he's tier 1.

I assume last year you’d have placed Anderson in tier 2 or even 3. What are your thoughts on Ando for 2023? Tier 1 or 2?

Currently I agree that Roczen is in tier 2 but that’s not to say the tier 1 talent isn’t there.

You judge a rider on what they are currently doing and what you think they are capable of doing.

Do teams think Roczen is still capable of delivering a championship? That's a questions only they can answer.

I would say his ship has set sail when it comes to championship contention but that is just my opinion. Maybe a big team is still willing to pay him tier 1 money.

Ando is Tier 1 for SX Tier 2 for moto.

imo the only tier 1 riders for outdoors this season were chase and eli.

His practice bike looks like a lot of pro practice bikes that have a few hours on them. And there are things other than results that factor into the pay these days. I'm guessing that most companies sponsor pro racing to get a return on their investment. Sales . And a rider with a large following of loyal fans that can win races sometimes , but sells a ton of product for his sponsors would seem more valuable than a guy that is not really popular and wins a title. As a moto business owner I can tell you that race results do not always = higher sales numbers. I've had local racers that I have helped out at many levels and results are only a minor factor of what I look at as far as who I will support. I imagine that kenny still helps Honda sell a ton of bikes and Fox with gear. Posting some bad along with the good , gives him more credibility . You know hes not just saying that his stuff is great because he is getting a ton of money to say it. When he says he likes something You know its gotta at least not be bad. I've had an injury that resulted in an infection and multiple surgeries over multiple years, and I still run into issues from the infection with being sick and strange stomach issues. I believe Kenny when he says hes sick. I'm sure it must be driving him crazy to have to come out and say it every time he starts to be worn out and sick. If you look at a bike after a national they will often not look much better than that bike. Top guys can wear out a graphics kit in a couple hours of riding time. It is amazing how beat up bikes can get with a guy that grips a lot with their legs and wears knee braces , and gets all his stuff for free.
