Some of ya'll were just about ready to quit the sport over MX Sports making the motos shorter....
So...did it matter?
I say, no.

It was 192 degrees. Everyone was done at 25 min.
Especially since that would have given Jett time to figure out who was behind him and let him “bye”.

Tomac was strong but nothing was guaranteed. Chase got unlucky with the lapper at the wrong time and that's when Eli passed him. If the race would have went on longer it could have worked the other way around where Tomac got caught behind a lapper and Chase got around. You just never know what could have happened in 10 additional minutes of racing.
Also, depending on when the timer hit zero it could have been another 7 1/2 minutes per moto with another lap thrown in? Either way, 10 minutes is a lot of racing.
Why not make motos 60 minutes long so absolutely everything that could possibly happen does happen.
5 minutes shorter changed nothing, the field was cooked.
But what if it saved someone from heat stroke? Or death?
🤷♂️
If Chase had more laps 1st Moto and made a successful run up and pass on Tomac AND IF Chase didn’t crash the second Moto AND Tomac didn’t pull out last minute beast mode……
You get the point. I think it played out as fair to both of them as possible and left it in there hands. Eli’s hands were just a little steadier.
If you went back in time and re ran those races at the original 30+2, the results would have been different in at least one of the races from the 2 classes. I'm not going to speculate what would have happened but 5 extra minutes per race would have made a difference somewhere.
I still think they made the right call though and the 25+2 was plenty enough for that heat!
All the riders had the same 25+2 to race. If you think 5 more minutes would have benefited you, then you should have practiced more starts or made more passes in the early laps.
Pit Row
It should be noted that the guys who rode the 30 and 40 “back in the day” had a wider recovery time/ window between motos. Live TV has made the window very very narrow.
It was a smart move by the AMA. The way Eli and Chase were pushing, another 5-10 mins of that could have leaded to some serious health issues.
