Sorry if this is a repost, I did a brief search and couldn’t find a thread. I’ve never seen anything like this, though!

Thanks! I was lucky enough to direct, shoot, and edit that video. It was a wild experience being in Dubai for 26 days total and the scale of the shoot was unlike anything I had been part of before. It was an honor to say the least and Dubai is an interesting place in many ways but boy do you walk out of there with a lot of questions let's just say that... Regardless, happy with what we were able to pull off given the limitations of a moto bike in a city!

Amazing job, dude! All those drone shots were so awesome! As crazy and cool as the place looks, I have no interest in visiting Dubai. Grinning

Man, the FPV pilot we had on the shoot was so damn good! No acrobatics, no flips, no fluff, just high speed chasing that you couldn't get with any other camera setup! I can admittedly be a total hater on FPV at times but I was really stoked with the stuff we were able to get for that!
And I can't blame you, for the most part it's not really a place for dirt bike people or anyone that likes to do any sort of adventuring outside for that matter. But still a very impressive place to witness in person, especially knowing that the city is only 50 years old. I don't remember the exact stat but I believe in the early 2000's(ish) something like 93% of the worlds crane population was in dubai. And still, even now literally everywhere you look there's cranes putting up new sky scrapers.

One of the best shoots I've ever seen.

Very nice work. It's very rare to find someone who can do it all. Directing and shooting is one thing but you have the editing covered too. Amazing. Do you use premiere, FCP, DaVinci, Avid, or some other editing program? M1 Macs or some other beastly editing machine?

Thanks man! I've never been fearful of being a generalist that's for sure. I'll be more inclined to let editors come in if I was to work on another project like the one above but in making full films (I did the MOTO CO films and got my start with the last few MOTO The Movies,) I think I'll always be a little selfish in that regard just out of pure enjoyment of conquering the mountain that is making a full film at a reasonable level from start to finish.

To answer your question though I have been a premiere guy for a long time but like a lot of people I got fed up with the bugs. Sucks to because honestly when it works, premiere is awesome. Every year when I'd be editing films I would undoubtably run into some sort of major hiccup along the way thanks to Premiere and I just got tired of it. So, I had already become familiar with DaVinci Resolve previously when learning how to color grade and after a lot of resistance, I decided about 6 months ago to move my full workflow into Resolve. It's not perfect and I miss some features occasionally that premiere had BUT it's practically bug free and is super reliable so I'm happy with the decision thus far.
Wish I could tell you my iMac was an M1, but it's not, it's just a few year old 27 inch iMac with a decent build. All of my films have been made on an iMac that a real editor would pull their hair out with. But hey, you gotta ball on a budget sometimes! It's a decent setup overall don't get me wrong but when you throw a whole movie at it or some really big files (the Dubai stuff was 8k) she get's angry!

Holy shit that makes it even more impressive that your fans haven't imploded from dealing with these huge files.

I'm just getting into video now after shooting stills all my life. I'm locked into Canon with all my glass so I'm probably doing it the hard way with R5's but that's what I'm using considering they're good bodies for stills as well. The shooting piece is fairly natural for me but learning the editing piece is going to be very time consuming. I'm on a iMac like you so I'm just going learn FCP for now. My spare time is limited so I'm just stockpiling tons of Clog3 footage in hopes to be able to learn how to edit it someday.
