22.5 fc250 vs 22 CRF250f

Been on husky/Ktm the last 10 year and thinking of making the switch. Coming from a 21 fc 250 and trying to decide between the new husky and the new Honda.. anyone made the switch either way? Haven’t ridden either of the new bikes just done some research on em. Seems like the suspension on the crf isn’t great but can getting the suspension done fix this?? Any help is appreciated! I’m a solid B rider if that helps!

Motocross action did a 22 250 shoot out and the Husky took the top spot. There might be some good insight in the video. Either way you go, pretty sure you'll be happy, Good luck and post an update of what ya get!

I had a 22 CRF250R and a 22 gasgas ex250f riding hare scrambles. The CRF engine is probably perfect for a beginner to intermediate rider for hare scrambles because it lugs well which can help in tight terrain. The Honda clutch has no modulation which causes problems when it is slick and you need to lug and control traction with the clutch. The Austrian engine blows it out of the water from mid to top and the clutch has much better modulation for managing traction. The new Austrian engine (2023) is supposed to lug a little better, have better throttle response, and have more from mid to top.

I have heard from a local suspension tuner that they cannot tune the stiffness out of the Honda. One guy I race with (Senior B class) is dumping his Honda for a YZ125x after getting the Honda revalved. It isn't just the suspension that is too stiff. He also made the comment that the Honda hardware rounds off quickly but he has never owned a KTM so he doesn't have a reference point there.

The '19-'22 KTM has more traction (a lot really) but you sacrifice a little steering compared to the Honda. The KTM steering is really good but the Honda is a scalpel.

Ergos are really good on the Honda but KTM are not bad. The honda side plates will unhook themselves at the back sometimes if you bump it wrong with a boot or another bike. The Honda air filter is easy to change but you do have to unbolt the side plate to get to it. Honda seat is a little thin and you will probably feel the frame rails through the seat on bigger hits. Shifting is smooth on the Honda from the get go and the KTM takes a while to break in. I prefer to work on the KTM as I feel it is better designed for maintenance. I also trust their engine more for durability.

If you’ve got 1,000 for the FC revalve, stiffer springs, and link, I’d go for the Honda. I just love how it turns, and it looks bitchin.

Take a close look at the 2022 KX250. Kawasaki has some rebates going on right now and the bike is a good balance of everything.

That is a great deal but I think someone already jumped on it. It isn’t listed on their site.
