if there wasn't a team yet
now with this belgium privateer kid doing a podium on a us national, i'm starting to think that the low economy excuse should be comming out soon and usa should be skipping the chance to race the rest of the world........

This could be the best MXDN in many years.
Lots of favorites, open races.

Best of luck to the Euros. Bummer we can't dominate yet another year...but I guess we "earned it".

got to create some drama somehow, how else you gonna sell tickets when the rest of the world continues to finish behind three guys from America year after year?

Team doesn't usually get announced until Loretta's, but I don't see them sitting it out. They always pull some corporate backing, along with donations, so plan on seeing some red white and blue gear come October.

I'd say at this point: Grant, Stewart (that will be hard for him to pass up, and he's hinted at it) and Dungey.

If the US goes it's going to be tough no matter who they send.

If the U.S. loses it will be because of a crash or terrible start, even the GP fans know that's the most likely scenario for a U.S. loss.

How often does a U.S. team go in needing a crash from anyone in the field?

The last few years there was/were always 1 or 2 supermans in the USA team.
This year perhaps Alessi (Batman ;-) ).

Without the crash of Kevin Strijbos in Great Britain (the race with Stewart and Everts), the Belgians had won that day.

Yes but I mean before the race starts. Most of the time before they even line up, everyone is looking for some bad luck for the U.S.

Last Year you guys needed a 35 year old to save your butts from a french B team and you know it.

If Christophe pourcel was there you guys would have been done for.

Again, when we need some luck it's during the race, when you guys need some luck it's before the U.S. team is even picked, right up to the gate falling. My point is just that, it's not very often that the rest of the world can go into that race not needing problems for the US. When your guys stay up and our guys stay up, we win.

Yup, good ride for him. We will see if he can do it again. Hopefully no first turn pile up this time around. Not sure why you are trying to make it a competition between nations.

Reality is anything can happen in that race... 92 the US on paper shouldn't have won... in 94 on paper they should have... that's why they hold the races
7/25/2009 5:37pm
maybe, but you guys can choose from 305 million people, the europeans can choose from average 40 million people.

I would like to see an exhibition race with your 3 picks and our 3 picks and see how they stack up.

For example: Pourcel, Cairoli and Philipaerts vs Short, Grant and Dungey

250s would be close, but 450s got beatby a guy i wouldn't even pick. (i know there's 2 moto's bla bla bla)

last year usa had their superman in the team........and they just won cuz of a flat tire from boissiere......and it was agaist a so called b class french team........but even being called a b class team, and not having their best rider...they still raced and tried to win...and only bad luck took it way from them........the the memory is short when needed....!!!!!!!

for me the great race... even if they are not favorite and still try to win.......
but not racing cuz not being favorite and not sure of winnig is as low as it can get.......
i hope usa races this year...it would look really bad if they don´t.....
7/25/2009 5:52pm
America is definitely not a clear favorite this year and anyone arguing that is just being ignorant. The rest of the world is very fast.

Stewart, Dungey and since it may be good for JGR, probably Grant. We could save some time and just have a six man race.

Ideal would be your three vs JS, RV and Dungey. You would think that despite the population advantage the rest of the world could get three guys close more than once a decade.
