New rider to Star Yamaha??

Heard this on the Main Event Moto podcast so I’m assuming it’s a fairly credible source. A couple weeks ago the GOAT farm was cleared out of all personnel except Bobby Regan and an undisclosed rider for them to ride the bike for 2 days.

Daniel Blair mentioned the most likely candidate would be Ken Roczen. He’s the only major player without a deal inked for next year. They likely wouldn’t have went to these lengths of secrecy for a 250 or Am level rider.

I’m a Honda guy through and through but maybe this would be a good landing spot for Roczen. He’s always talking about how his setup is off and the Star guys seem to be able to nail bike setup. It also might give him some new motivation like Anderson moving to Kawi??

If not Roczen who else could it be?? Normally I’d be surprised at a 3rd 450 rider but Star seems to have some pretty deep pockets.

I have not heard the podcast, so I cannot comment on it form that aspect, but this would be very surprising as I'm fairly certain Kenny's deal with Red Bull is a personal deal. So unless he's dropping Red Bull to go to Monster, or Star is doing some kind of side deal to supply bike and parts, I can't see it being Kenny.

Now I feel like this give traction to Webb to Star after his SX only deal for next year is up with KTM. That will give Star a year to shake out the new YZ model before Webb comes over.

Who know, but it'll be cool to see it all play out!

I just have such a hard time believing Star would want Roczen, but maybe I'm wrong. I guess we'll see

I agree with the post above that the clearing probably had to do with whoever it was, getting to ride the new 23 450 and not so much about who the rider was.

Pro Circuit stepped up and added him to the team for 23.
