Little things that make you happy...Bose Headphones

Edited Date/Time 8/11/2022 7:01am
I spend a bunch of time on my laptop watching racing and movies so a decent set of head phones is a must.

I bought these a few weeks back. They cost about $25.00 and are ok....for now.

My eye has been on this Bose unit for a while now but will have to wait a bit. Anyone got a pair of these? Are they worth $250.00?
Bose are the Rolls Royce of headsets and I would like to hear from any of you who have had experience with Bose. Its a lot of money to drop especially when one converts from our African coins.

I’m not a fan of wireless personally but very comfortable and GREAT sound.

I bring these or my old JBLs on flights, but these mask ambient sound better.

I wear "in ear" and I've recently worn my Bose, JBL and even my Seinheiser monitors(Custom fit on-stage/in-studio monitors...Ridiculous $)...while playing my drum kit...flying...driving and riding...etc.

But, when I wear my wired old Scosche "Yellow Rockstar Ear Buds" that were not too long ago blown out at $8 a pair...?(2020/2021...even my mother-in-law bought some).

Well, I still laugh at the fact that some of the other stuff I have cost soooooo much money and I can actually play my drums with those yellow Scosches plugged into my iPhone! They sound pretty damn good!

There are some things you can skimp on in life: breakfast cereal, gasoline for the lawnmower, maybe socks.

Audio is not one of them.

I have a pair of Bose in-ear phones and they are awesome. Still going strong after 15 years and they sound great.

You NEVER skimp on socks!!!!

As far as headphones, I got a great deal on some Beats cans a few years ago and knowing that they are more known for great marketing than sound I still ended up with 4 different pairs of Beats headphones. They all still work and sound great to me but I'm currently using my Airpods because they fit nicely in my helmet, and they are really convenient because they fit in my pocket easy. Airpods are pretty much part of my EDC.

Funny thing...

I -ALWAYS- have spare ear-gear that's good to go (just-in-case what I'm using fails) in my travel backpack.
I -ALWAYS- have a spare/backed up digital device in-case my phone takes a shit.
I -ALWAYS- have spare sox & gloves, new in the pkg, in my gear bag.

Note: when traveling and you're suckered in to or have to check your luggage...pack spare underwear, socks and a mini "overnight kit" in your carry-on. Your carry-on is a backpack that you can live out of for a few days IF you're an experienced "traveler".

I use Raycon wireless earbuds. They sound great and they won't break the bank – the pair I have were $79.99 ($65-ish with a podcast promo code), and the noise cancelling ones are only $119. They also have actual headphones if earbuds aren't your thing.

I have moved over to after shokz over the ear. These let you be able to hear what's going on around you. Not good for everyone. I work in a loud environment so I wear ear plugs but am able to talk on the phone, listen to music etc.

Not for everyone but I love mine. Water / sweat proof, battery life is all day with constant music.

Boom, I have that exact Bose set. Birthday present from the wife. Pricey but worth the money imo.

Socks? No way. Wool only.

Awesome, I've been wanting a set for a while now but need to wait for Nov when a buddy flies back home. Will save on duties and taxes.

To be honest...I'm not sure any of the "modern" stuff can touch the '70's over the ear sets. You can still get badass headphones but they cost thousands not hundredsBlink .

I had my old 1975 Harmon Kardon Citation amp/preamp and JBL L65 speakers completely refurbed a while back. Don't ask how muchBlush .
Absolutely, the cleanest, most brain frying sound you can imagine. Cool

What's the frequency response of these? It would seem to me the listener would lose a lot of treble form the way they transmit. (In other words, what's your perception of the sound? Is it muddy at all?)

From what I've experienced...if you are in a quiet-ish environment...the noise canx phones sound pretty good. The loud space imoto is using them in probably dulls things a bit....or a lot. I haven't used the ones he mentioned but my Bose aren't happy with loud noises. They do muffle the noise but audio quality drops. On an aircraft flight...they work just fine.

Back in the day when I flew heli's I had a set of David Clark H10-13 (passive) headsets. They were pretty awesome and faily priced but the Bose headsets were better but really expensive.

I believe that Bose is the best and will get me a set soon enough for entertainment purposes.

Never tried Bose, but I will say this. I had a pair of Sony Wf-1000xm3’s, the top of the line true wireless ones. Long story short, I lost them and now have a pair of Sony Wi-xb400’s.

The XM3’s sounded good. But for my ear, I can’t tell hardly any difference between them and the XB400’s. The XM3’s had the fancy noise cancelling and location detection and all that fancy stuff, which I turned off because it killed the battery in 2 hours. The XB400’s battery lasts 10 hours. The XM3’s were $230, the Xb400’s were $30. So if you ask me, sometimes a lot of it is marketing for profit margins.
