Anyone try Leatt 4.5 boots?

Looking for some new boots on a budget. Anyone here have first hand experience with the Leatt 4.5 boots? I can get a new pair for $200 but don’t want to waste my money if they’re junk.

We bought my 15 year
Old son a pair from Rocky Mountain. I wore them for a session and they weren’t bad at all. I’m spoiled by my sg12 and I didn’t think they were bad at all.

Would you say the sg12 are worth the extra $300-$350? I have wide feet and heard both gaerne and leatt are good for riders with wide feet and big calves. I’m a pretty slow rider so won’t be ripping up many tracks but I still want to be safe.

Brother had the Leatt 4.5 boots. Two pairs. Each broke (pulled a rivet through the plastic) within 2 rides. A fluke? Maybe. But not a great impression.

Go with the Gaerne’s.

Having both boots I'd say no. The 12's are a nice boot but comfort of the Leatts is equal or better due to the larger toebox for me. Protection is similar, both using a hinged ankle with limits, but I haven't had the buckle issues on the Leatts like my last 12s. Pricewise is about half so you could start fresh with a second pair later for the same price. I like new boots😉

New to the forum, but felt I needed to respond. I've had the 4.5 boots for over 12 months now and 2000+ offroad miles without issue. Ready for a new pair and will go back for the value. I'm generally hard on my equipment. I was happy with the durability, but impressed by the comfort.

I would not get the leatt 4.5boot again. They are comfortable around the legs , but the soles are rock hard.

the soles inside the boot have allmost zero damping my feet hurts.

A kid I ride with has them and he's replaced 2 buckles on each boot. He doesn't ride too hard, boots probably have less than 30 hours on them.

YMMV

Typically you want a stiff sole for support on the pegs and to limit your foot from bending around them on G-outs or landings. Inside sole comfort is easily fixed with a foot bed of your choice.

Go with the Gaerne’s.

Garne. Fastback boots, mid level boots but high quality!

I just got the 4.5s coming from sg12s and so far so good! Only thing for me was the sizing was way off, normally wear 11s but had to go up to 13s. If you can get them cheap enough I don't think you could go wrong

Strange, I'm an 11 and had a few pairs of 4.5's and 5.5's all size 11 no issue. Sidi's I'd always go up to 11 1/2 due to narrow toe box and Gaernes are big, I was a 10
