Metal chunk dropped out of oil drain. What is it?

Changed the oil today and this came out of the drain. Pulled the oil filter too - to see if it caught anything and it was spotless. Bike has 55 hrs and runs great. Time to tear down?

Any thoughts where this would come from in my 2020crf450r?

I’m not sure but if something like that came out of my bike I would tear it down. That’s a sizable piece of material when you think about how tight the tolerances are inside the engine of a motorcycle.

Sort of looks like a rivet head?

Tear into what you can with the engine still in the bike, mainly the clutch side. It's worth pulling the entire clutch assembly and basket etc out to see if its anything related to those.

If everything looks good there, then probably best to go ahead with a full tear down.

does a magnet stick to it? It looks like aluminum from the pic. Given its shape its bounced around inside a little bit. I would say complete tear down, you need to find where this piece came from and fix that issue before starting the bike again. the only way to make sure you get all the debris out is splitting the cases and pulling it all apart, there may be metal particles in your bearings too. Good luck, hope its not bad when you get it apart, please post pics for us if you do it yourself.

It certainly looks aluminum, even cast based on the damage seen in the 2nd picture. The first picture also looks like it went through a transmission gear tooth, primary or clutch hub gear. The shape of the piece and the dimple in the 2nd picture is throwing my brain for a loop though. Been digging through diagrams trying to figure it out and can't seem to find anything.
