Hi all

Brooksie see the bottom of page 2 for my reply about your questions for your resto project on the on the 86 yz250

Tooka yeah your right i cannot wait either

And barkhard your right yamaha do love to reuse a lot of parts, a special thanks to you barkhard and the others who replied to my mastercross thread i bought the radiator shrouds from them, all in with shipping they cost 225 euro's

Very well packaged and fast shipping from italy

Made some more small progress recently, managed to aquire a custom made aftermarket seat cover in blue to tie in with clarke tank also a few other bits a bobs done

The 2008 model master cylinder arrived from the usa so the front brake ASV lever is now mounted up and looking good, along with the clutch cable, just need to get the piston's for the front brake caliper and sort out the custom brake hose from venhill and then that's the front brake completely sorted

I am waiting on some contact adhesive and staples to arrive so i can refit the new seat cover

See the pictures below mastercross sent me of the radiator shrouds, they are now mounted on the bike but i won't post pictures until the seat cover has been fitted, so it can complete the overall look

I think these are probably the last oem set ever of these radiator shrouds worldwide

A few more pictures of the front end progress etc

Notice the custom made valentino rossi guido dog sticker on the front fender, the original colour was a yellow/orange but an ebay merchant in the uk was kind enough to change it to more like a modern yamaha reflex blue, i had four of them made up there is a matching one on the rear fender too

Again apologies for the crappy pictures but i have a decent camera now so hopefully the next sets of pictures should be a lot better

Thanks for the reply mate! My resto is about half a year away now due to an unexpected overseas deployment... at least I'll have plenty of money for parts!

Nice work on getting them oem shrouds, I'm hoping there is another set out there somewhere! (red though)

I look forward to seeing the finished product!

Hi Andy, how is the build going?

I am interested in what you're doing with your wheels; what rims and spokes are you going with?. Does the 87 have z spokes like the 86?

Sorry i haven't updated the thread in a while lads, my head is all over the place at the minute

My mother died 2 weeks ago on 31st of august she had cancer she was only 58 too, and to top it all off me and my partner's first child was born the day after she died, so she never got to meet her new grandson tyler

Our son was born in the unit opposite were my mum died so we had to go back to the same ward she died on the day after which really hurt

At the moment the bike is the least of my worries, but i will carry on with the build and the thread in the future once i have sorted my head out

Just thought i would let people know why i have not been around much lately

Very difficult mate. I lost my mother a year before my daughter was born, and knowing they never met isn't easy.
Having both events together must be a major headf*ck.

Really sympathise for you and your family.

Massive congrats to you and the missus on the birth of your son. Make sure that you let him know all the things that were important to his grandmother, the things she liked and disliked, and what made her the woman she was.

The bike's irrelevant in comparison.

Enjoy your new kid, when you get settled and take a few hours out for yourself, keep us updated, as I for one can't wait to see the bike finished.

Appreciate it.

Looks good, very similar in color pattern and style to the 1989 YZ250WR, then again still all your own.

Hi all new update got my wheels back from paul at sids wheels, new silver D.I.D rims anodized in dark blue, my custom chromacoat painted hubs Roughly £100 to paint them both, new bearings seals and spacers costing around £60, new cst surge tyres aka maxxis £80, new SS spoke kits conventional front and Z spoke rear laced, trued and balanced, new inner tubes front and rear £10 each along with two new rim tapes and two new rim locks along with the blue anodized rim lock nuts £30

The work from paul cost £475

A talon radialite rear sprocket 49 teeth £30 and new sprocket bolt kit £10 and a EBC front brake disc £50

I estimate it cost between £800-£900 for the complete wheelsets

Yes mate

A few pictures of my new exhaust system, i wanted an FMF fatty gold series front pipe but sadly they are now discontinued, same with pro circuit pipes but luckily dowwob had nos pro circuit works finish front pipe in the uk was in poor tarnished condition but it was my only choice so i had to shell out £200 for it and also got a new FMF powercore silencer from the uk so at least i saved on import fees as both items were in the uk, i would have got a pro circuit silencer but again sadly that is discontinued too so i was forced to mix and match

First pic is exhaust when i bought it 2nd and 3rd pic is after a really good clean up with scotchbrite WD-40 metal polish etc, i think it looks pretty good now considering how rough it was to start with

Also a cheeky pic of my future mini me having his first moto experience, i think its a bit big for him at the moment

And also new nos front wheel axle and a new blue AFAM non oring chain

Sorry guys for the latest update ever, it just totally slipped my mind but I guess better late than never

The pictures are from after the 1st ride and wash lol

Had to take the exhaust off again as it had a leak at the manifold and the chain needed a link removed lol

Will try and upload a few more from my other phone tomorrow

Thanks again everyone for the encouragement and replies throughout the build

And sorry again for the huge delay
