He’s fast as hell, just like mike was/is.... he’s got it all with what I’m seeing. But this seems to me like a new version of “ believe the hype”.

I can already tell you Deegan is working through things that Mike didn’t have to…

I’m not saying Deegan is better than Mike, honestly he’s not even close.

But with that said, Mike never really learned to pass. He didn’t have to. That, in my opinion, was Mikes biggest detriment as a pro…Mike was 100/100 in the top 3 off every start in amateurs and destroyed everyone 99/100. Never really had to “learn to grind”

Deegan on the other hand is beatable does have to work through the pack….that alone is a leg up on the “race craft” portion of what it takes to truly be one of the greats.

But who the hell am I and what do I know?

I think he’s just one of the first juniors going through the ranks that are heavily dependent on social media and YouTube.

Not my cup of tea, a really dislike the youtube craze and baiting thumbnails. (And that god-awful dangerboy nickname)

Time will tell if the self-made hype is worth it. There’s no faking it when the gate drops on his pro debut.

He’s a child star/YouTuber/prodigy/professional athlete. No one is judging his character as a person. Simply stating our opinions on his future in the sport. Calm down Karen.

I think he will be just off the top. I feel he is a touch behind ryder d and hymas.
But it's the progression from 16-20 that counts.
The top amateur kids sometimes end up 5-10 in the pros. It's there progression at that time that counts. Look at guys like swoll, Robertson, shimoda, mumfy and jett. They all came thru around the same time with similar results. Jetts winning everything, shmoda is 3-5, swoll and Robertson 5-10 and mumfy is 10+. In amateurs u could toss a coin.
It all depends on who adapts to a broken down track quicker and who keeps progressing.

Deegan is in control of his own destiny.

That said, who is his pro comp?

Does he change the name to ‘Danger man’ when he goes pro?

Regardless of his success of his career he is going to help the sport a great deal, I mean my partner was never into Moto until she saw me watching The Deegans, now she subscribes to Deegans, Reeds etc and watches all the races.

If that's happening with my partner I'm sure there are many situations like that which is great for the sport.

From what I've seen Hymas and Ryder D are better riders at this moment just going off the eye test, Deegan's biggest hurdle will be being ok with losing.

I don't think he's the next Alessi he never raced the best guys, AC9 is more of a Alessi.

Doubtful.
But his gate hasn't dropped yet.
Sounds like his dad has him on a sensible path.

You mean 'the next big thing that won nothing' .

It has all the hallmarks .

'we'll race him when its time'

“Danger boy” still irks me.. it’s so cringe.

Kinda like a guy riding with big spikes on a pair of shoulder pads

I’ve raced Degan (I’m the only kid without jersey numbersTongue ) kid is the real deal tho. Only thing that scares me is his crew. He got a posse an a half. Like 6-7 dudes on the gate with him. But man. Kid is sooooo fast. Very talented. Future is bright

Spot on, and the reason it’s so frustrating that the OEMs give the next big thing a six figure contract instead of throwing money at guys riding their bikes in the actual pro class

Different times man, this aint the 70s and 80s. Social media is making him and the fam millions and he still backs it up with wins.

Watching a lot of the latest videos, it seems he's dropped the "Danger Boy" nickname and people and videos refer to him as Haiden. He's getting older and maturing, and he knows the pros are a different level. For one thing, he is putting on the work

At 16 mike was racing a 450 and on the podium with Ricky Carmichael and Kevin windham in his second pro race, and started that days first Moto in a 3rd corner pile up back in 37th. A lot of time separates the twos career, we had Ricky, James, Chad reed and a lot more names that will go down as some of the greatest this sport will ever see in our era. This new era 100% domination has been hard to achieve and likely the only guy I can see having a Rc hyped career is maybe Jett. You will have to be pretty gritty and talented to beat him.

Bryan’s been doing a good job of not rushing his kids career. Will be dominate? Not sure. He seems to have a lot of pressure from his fan base/YouTube to do well, which could come around and bite him. He’s surrounded by a good crew at star, and he knows he’s not at the top level yet. I think he’ll be fine.

As for Mike - he was fast as hell. I think he finished in 2nd in MX a few times. And one year got a 6 or 7 in SX. May have won it thst one year if he didn’t do his knee. So he didn’t win a chip - that is common with 99% of those who raced. And he still is racing. I would say most of if not all on Vital would do anything to have his skill on a bike.

As for Haiden - give him a break and give him some time. He will be fast - bring more fans to the races/TV and possibly more $$. Will he win championships - who knows but it will be fun watching him race.

i think he'll be more succesful than alessi was

like someone mentioned above, brian had his day in the sun and seems to understand that you gotta let your kids grow up and learn on their own and not be an overzealous helicopter parent

haiden doesnt seem like a bad kid and he hasn't burnt any bridges as far as i know and what i can see..but im not involved with the industry or anything so maybe im wrong.

mike alessi was never offered a pro circuit ride and i believe mitch payton never wanted anything to do with the family. most amateur phenoms who win lorettas probably atleast talk to the guy..

The ‘not learning to pass’ theory is valid when looking at his first couple of pro seasons, but during those he had ample opportunity to learn that skill…..

After that point it’s inferring that he could no longer improve his skills the way the vast majority of racers do over the course of their careers. And that just may be true…..!
