Is that a ‘78 RM80C? I had an ‘77 RM80B (there was no A), and I believe it did not have leading axle forks.

It’s a ‘77. The ‘77 had a metal tank, the ‘78 had plastic. Both had the same forks on them.

Pretty sure the B had different forks (non-leading axle). I had a B and was jealous of the kids who had C/leading axle forks. They just looked cooler! Funny the things you remember 45 years later.

“Funny the things you remember 45 years later.”
Or what you don’t remember! Lol

You’re absolutely right. My brain is mixing up my ‘80 125 (plastic tank) and my ‘78 RM80.
My cousin had the ‘77 and I remember him putting a dent in his tank. I ended up with a tank cover on mine, now that I think about it. It was metal as well…
I don’t remember the “B” and “C” models, but that’s the least of my worries.

Well I put together a little gopro video from that day...just learning how to do that stuff.
Im a pretty slow rider but you should get the gist of how much fun these little bikes are to ride.
Right at the end I hit this rock sticking out of a rut and had a decent crash, jammed my ribs into the bars and bashed my knees right at the top of my knee guards..🤣🤣

I'm 42 and I love taking my daughters KX100 out. I get kicked off the pit bike/kids track for ringing the neck off it, but it's worth it. I've gone out on the big track a few time and it was fun. Never thought about actually racing it. I don't know about sending it over a massive table or triple. It'd need some serious suspension work before I trusted that.

One of five that Dave Miller built for Langtown. 150 stroker motor. A blast to ride!
