Just thought some of the vets around here would like this. My dad just picked up this 1968 Yamaha DT1-250. First year of the Yamaha Enduro. This bike was restored with a ton of NOS parts about 15 years ago and hasn’t ran since. It probably never will run again as my dad doesn’t plan to ride it either. He has a bunch of 71-73s for that. It’s beautiful.

My dad has a few of them. But a 1968 was the one that eluded him until now.

That's awesome!

We have a '72 100 Enduro that is still all original and gets ridden as a camp/pit bike from time to time. I used to rip it in the backyard when I was a kid cause it was a lot quieter than my YZ80.

In the next few years I want to find this guy right hear for a build. It was my first bike family got it for me not running to gage how bad I really wanted a bike. Never got it running right or really at all but I was 12 and worked on it for 3 months to the point that I could at least get it to start. This was back in 97 no no internet or thumpertalk to ask questions.

My cell phone pictures really don’t do it justice. This bike is Barber museum quality. Apparently the only two parts that aren’t correct are the kick start and the exhaust. That year had a really thin kicker that was prone to breaking, and the muffler had a 2” longer tail pipe that was prone to bending in a crash. The following year they beefed those parts up I guess. My dad is on the hunt for them but parts for a 1968 are pretty much non existent now.

She's a beauty, good for your father! When I was in 6th grade my father brought home a clapped out DT-1 for me. I which I could say following him through rock gardens and over a foot of snow was enjoyable on that thing...

Finally got it to uplaod. Even though I never got it running right, electrical issue I think to this day still and the farthest I ever got it to stay running was to the end of the driveway. I still wanna build one to wrap up some unfinished business that I started so long ago.

1972. My dad has one of those as well. It’s one of his riders.

Haha good eye. Yes that is missing but he has a reproduction that he’s going to stick on there.

If he ever decides one day to get rid of it I'll take it. Lol
While I want to do a build on one. I think I've also spent enough time fuckin around with them and not enough riding.

I had a DT 175 in England in the late 70s. My buddy crocked the tank on a stump the day this shot was taken. Another buddy had a TS 250.

Those were the days.

I know a few of them he wants to sell. Not sure if that one, I will ask. He recently sold a 175, he’s also looking to sell his 100 that’s a really nice purple color.

I’m potentially interested in a DT 250 if he has any for sale or wants to part with a rider quality or better.

Ok. I’ll be heading over there early next week and can snap some pics and get details on what he wants to sell.

He has two black tank 71 RT1-360s as well. One is like this 1968, fully restored and that one I think actually came from a museum. That was probably my favorite before he got this one. His collection of enduros is pretty nuts.

Here’s a 1973 RT1 and DT1 that get ridden. Don’t have a pic of the black ones on my phone unfortunately.

The 68' is rare as hell. 8 years ago I was driving down this back road and I saw what I though was one just sitting out in someone's yard next to an old barn. Two months later its still sitting there in all the elements so I stop and ask this old dude what the story is with the bike and if he was interested in selling it. He goes sure give me $60. Grabbed that thing big time. Few hundred later and had it running and where it needed to be. How often does that happen?
