New gear companies prices

There are a lot of ‘new’ gear companies that pop up or ‘custom’ gear companies and I can’t figure out how a barely proven company expects to get $200-300/set of gear with no history???

I’ll pay that much for companies that have been around and proven.

What’s the ‘entry price’ for a gear company…???

Thoughts?

If its custom gear then it will cost more due to the time taken to produce.
Same with any custom product it will cost more than an off the shelf mass produced product.

A lot is probably related to production costs. They simply can’t produce enough gear to get the cost lower.

I bought Renen gear because it seems like top shelf product and is made in America which is something I try to support whenever I can.

Can’t be that hard to draw a conclusion of the differences between a mass produced product vs a custom or bespoke product.

Stick to fox or oneal if it’s not your cup of tea.

I like custom stuff, I just don’t ride enough to justify the spend. I’m sure if these expensive custom gear company’s you refer to don’t provide a quality product, they won’t survive for long.

i like seven gear but it is costly in Australia although would be cool to get a set of state of ethos gear as well. If you like the brand and want to support them them do it. Could always try the gloves first if you don't want to spend the big investment first

Same here. I haven't got to try it out yet but it seems like it's good quality

Shouldn't you be calling him comrade instead of buddy?

The pant fabrics look really heavy, like out of the 90’s. What are your thoughts? It’s pretty good looking stuff, it just looks like it would be really hot in the summer months.

I'm a test rider for a small, family run, racer owned gear company. To answer your question, everything costs more when you start out. Materials, designing, R&D, shipping, advertising, etc... You have to start somewhere and make a profit before you can expand. The small guys are making wayyyy less per set. So maybe you could support them now and someday they will be a "proven" company.

Also, the owner of the company I test for also owns a public track. So a large portion of his profits directly go towards a place for me to ride. And, riders who buy his gear get a discount on entry fees for the track. If that's not supporting local MX at its finest, I don't know what is?

BTW, I know what his "entry price" was to get the company rolling and it was a substantial amount for a hard working, middle class dude but he loves and enjoys moto.
