What about the still from the previous page(near the bottom)?
If it was already that bent, that could have contributed to the front end tucking.

I think there is some illusion going on in that one from the glare off wheel, the angle and speed. Stills taken from video from far away need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Soggy, do you have any other definitive proof? I feel like like no matter what other pictures may show that they don't fit your thoughts so they are 1000% wrong as you previously said.

right before impact, rim looks fine. that impact was definitely enough to torch that rim. plus, if it were from landing a big jump, you'd think that the wheel would oblonged bigtime, it isn't in this pic...

I think that is the one still you can grab where it looks weird and his wheel looks fine going down the previous rhythm. Just seeing how the crash happens tells me the wheel was damaged when it caught traction on the jump face.

Maybe an illusion but how would the force from it catching on the take off bend the wheel the opposite way?

I agree with you but is it not possible that his tire may have went flat from prior impact and ultimately helped with the wash out and considerably causing more rim damage?

I’ve seen this thought posted a hundred times. The part of the wheel at the top and bottom of the photo appear to be bent to the right, but if you look at the position of the wheel in relation to the forks, you can clearly see the center portion of the wheel as shown in the photo is bent to the left giving the illusion that the rim folded over to the right. Roll the wheeel 90° and it’ll look bent to the left as it is.

The bend in a rim can look different depending on perspective. That might not be the position the wheel was in when the rim was bent. We can’t see half the wheel in this photo.

Vs,

That's exactly what the wheel would look like if was damaged in the 2nd pic... the bottom of the rim would be pushed away from the right fork leg to the left

Lol you can’t see a flat spot in a rim from that far away and not even looking straight at the wheel. And it’s spinning

The inertia of Jason’s tire was enough to push sexton over? What?
He hit that shiney spot with the throttle cracked and washed the front end before he knifed it off the take off. Knocked himself silly and happened to fall as Jason jumped over him.

That was not an answer to my question, so I'll have to guess that it is?

Something about those Hondas front ends looks super temperamental. I wonder if that’s what’s keeping roczen from going all out. Sexton basically did the same thing...

Funny thing is I ride Honda now and grew up riding em. Although I will say… the best cornering bike I ever had by far was my yz 250f.
I haven’t ridden a new gen Honda but I watch all the reviews on em and the jury is out that they are still rigid and the front end is twitchy.

Did Anstie do a similar thing an the same jump? Or a different section of the track?
The damage to the front wheel almost certainly was just a chance occurence due to the near 90 degree angle that the wheel pushed into the base of the jump. It was turning fine coming out of the corner...

Vs,

That's an interesting point. The rim does look bent in the opposite direction you would expect with that compression from the face of the jump. It should have bent it toward the left fork.

Maybe if the wheel was rotated 180 degrees the bend would look different, like in the other direction?

Quoted the wrong post I think. If the fire was flat I don’t think it would have got the same bite in the jump face that it did in the crash.

I don’t understand why so many people want to say something else happened when clearly it was just a mistake on sextons part. Like there’s some big coverup going on or something.

I have no guess on weather Chase got a concussion or not. But he's sure selling that he's fine and remembers everything that happened on Pulp right now

I actually have a 95 cr250 myself, but I'm not a brand loyalist, I ride whatever I like the best. The hard core fan bois are amusing to me.
