Sexton X-trig?

Noticed sexton has x trig clamps this weekend. Never saw anything but factory clamps on hrc bikes. Anybody know why he made the switch?

Maybe trying to get some more flex. Lose some rigidity in the front end. I think that’s kinda the whole point behind those clamps?

I wouldn’t doubt it. The Honda has a very rigid frame and Chase has stated he is looking for late main comfort. Roczen has also stated they are trying to find the “right” setup for his bike.

I rode one a few weeks ago and noticed it. The guys bike that I rode is looking to get a new set of clamps because of the rigidity.

Was the same case with Kawasaki years ago, they ran factory clamps only forever then switched over to the xtrig

I noticed this early today as well. As an owner of a 21we, I'm beating myself up whether to buy clamps or not. Then I see xtrigs appear on sextons bike. If a mortal would tell me there is 100% a noticable difference in feel, for the better, I'd probably make the move. Obviously guys like sexton are way more sensitive to these things than the average Joe, but if there's truly a benefit it'd be hard not to.

Abs for the record, I've owned 7 or 8 crf450s dating back to the original in 02, and this new one is absolutely my favorite, even in near stock form.

One thing to keep in mind is that we have zero knowledge about these clamps except that they're made by X-Trig and that they are a split design (which doesn't say anything about flex either way). Who knows if these are off the shelf clamps that everyone can buy or if they're custom designed for him with specific flex characteristics.

I imagine its gotta be the 22mm, most posts or comments from what ive seen about 24mm offsets arent great at all

Outdoors we ran 24mm and I'm fairly certain some riders on HRC were as well. Again, outdoors, not SX. In SX they're on 22mm.

Assumed more flex as well, but listened to SD wrap up on Pulp and apparently they had too much flex with HRC clamp in the whoops. Move to Xtrig was to stiffen it up.
Don’t shoot the messenger!

Would be very interested in more details on the move to Xtrig.
