Bravo ! Not one mention of why the racers wear helmets. Nothing about why it’s called a “Starting Gate”. No cheesy re-enactments of a tear-off in action. For the first time in memory we are NOT trying to explain our beloved sport. This is huge. I think RC had something to do with this and we appreciate it…. ‘Twas all about the racing. As it should be. Finally.

How about those orange Yamaha's?

Right at the end Ricky made the comment the Craig went past the timing and scoring with 2 seconds to go and that gave Hunter etc an extra lap, I watched this and there is a camera angle that is focusing on Hammaker and Marchbanks that even shows this. 2 seconds to go Craig crosses the line and then the time remaining changes to "2 laps to go".
It then immediately changes to last lap and the white flag is shown to 2nd, 3rd, 4th place riders.
Was the timing a little out of whack or did the flag guy go a lap too soon?
Pit Row
My understanding is that the last lap flag is waved the next time the leader crosses the line when the clock has counted down to zero.
Craig crossed the line in this instance with time still remaining on the clock (2 seconds). In fact I watched the replay closer and finish line flagger is waving the blue flag to slower riders when Craig crosses the line.
The time then ran out and the white flag should then first have been waved the next time Craig came around again.
Instead it was immediately waved at Seth, Garret and Hunter.
Unless there is something I am not understanding, the race was technically a lap short.
If this is the case then Hunter was really on for second place with another lap to go.
Potentially could affect a championship outcome.
If the countdown clock reached zero just 2 seconds before Craig reached the timing/scoring line, he would have immediately received the white flag. But he crossed the line before the clock hit zero, so he had to go another whole lap to receive the white flag.
At that point, the broadcast could then show "two to go" because that's all that was left. But that's not how it played out on the broadcast. I was wondering about this, too.
"I miss Rutledge, like one would miss a hemorrhoid...."
But it turns out that it looks like Ricky mistook Thrasher crossing the line for Craig.
