Looking for OEM top and bottom clamps to fit a 2006 YZ250 with a 1 1/8” top clamp. OEM part numbers show only 2006-2014 YZ250 will fit.

eBay will have a shitload. in 2015 the upper clamps got 2mm smaller as far as clamping circumference. They would still work in you had 2015+ forks or a real good machinist around. Stay away from 2005 as they have the solid bar mounts, because 2005 technically will work, just have solid bar mounts. Otherwise your OEM parts numbers have not lead you astray, these are the years to get for plug and play, 06-14.

I have a set off of a 2020 YZ125. Should be exactly the same.

Any Yamaha 250 two stroke clamps will work 2006-2022.

You'll need the 250 clamps, though, not the 125, as the steering stem length is different. The four stroke clamps have a different length stem and different upper fork tube clamp diameters so they won't work at all.

Thanks Luxon. I was under the impression that something changed in 2015 for the YZ250, either the upper tube size or the stem length?

I have read that when the clamps started coming with the black coating and the new forks without the plastic ring (ie 2015), that the upper clamp was 2.0mm smaller in order to facilitate using forks with the same physical dimensions as the 4 strokes. I will for sure defer to your knowledge here and hope others read this to know the difference is there is no difference.

I believe the only thing that changed was the color of the clamps. Nothing that affected fit was changed.

And that's unfortunate as Yamaha could make things a lot easier on everyone by standardizing the triple clamps across all the big bikes. I was disappointed they didn't do this on the "all new" 2022 two-strokes...

2005 won't work correctly because the distance between the forks was increased by 2mm in 2006+.
If you do use them without modifying your wheel axle spacers, your wheel will be off center by 1mm (probably not noticeable). When I upgraded my 2005 to SSS forks, I used the 2005 clamps for a long while before upgrading the triple clamps, and could not notice the 1mm offset.
