I had a 86 VFR700F2.
Painted in all-white, including the windshield; Ducati Paso style. I had so much fun on that bike.

I had one of those. Great bike. The first year they came either black or white. I had a black one. Gotta go spelunking in my archives and try to find a picture.

That was the first road bike with 17 inch wheels. I found that out the hard way. I burned the stock tires off it in a few weeks. Went to get new ones and none were available yet. Had to wait several weeks to get back-ordered, overpriced OEM ones. Nothing like having a brand new bike sitting in your garage that you can't ride!

My dad had a hurricane. Oh man do I remember him letting me open the throttle wide open as I nestled up between him and the gas tank. I was probably 5 or 6. The shit grin of raw get up and go was insane. Front end would feel light and dad would turn the throttle the opposite way while I laughed.

That's a funny story Georgie and probably hooked you for LIFE! Woohoo
Dad sounds cool.

Speaking of deleted threads my reply of how I lost the Hurricane and my 81 Full Floater RM 125 in a garage fire in 2002 disappeared.
Weird oh well.

Yea the local shop I was good friends with the Service Mgr and the mechanics and I could just about get anything done for BEER. Woohoo

Anyway I purchased a Vance & Hines full exhaust (sounded so GNARLY) and what they did to the Hurricane was:
Jet Kit
Ignition Advancer
K&N air filter (simple mods but VERY EFFECTIVE)

And I put in stiffer fork springs and scored a Ohlins rear shock off of rec.motorcycles site (before e-bay).

Man did that bike come ALIVE--I swear it felt and SOUNDED like it was ready to compete at an AMA event!
Just typing this brings back so many memories.

Nice bike, is that a Rocket exhaust, any other mods?
Did you do burnouts to roach the tires in 2 weeks!!? Grinning

After I lost mine in the 2002 fire I found a mint one online back east and almost bought it as I was really bummed out about it. But then a friend said it would still be a 15 yr ol bike and I passed. Kinda wish I hadn't but then I probably would not have got my FZ1 years later which opened up Sport Touring with my girl.

1996 Ducati 916. Last year Ducati was 100% Italian owned. Before TPG took over. Ohlins shock. Termignoni exhaust. Corbin seat. Solo tail section. Bits of carbon. My keep it for life bike. Unfortunately lost to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The exhaust was a Cobra if I remember right. I took off all the emissions crap and re-jetted it. Other than that is was stock.

No burn outs. Laughing There were lots of sweet canyon roads where I lived. Highway 33 was my backyard. Cool

Cobra R slip-on on mine. Looked just like 7I3N’s exhaust. Not quiet!

I loved those Hurricanes. Didn’t get into street bikes until the early 90’s. Started with an ‘83 GPz750, then GSX-R750, ZX-6. and a CBR900RR.

But, the bike I miss most, is the little ‘90 400cc/Gear-driven cams in-line4 Honda CB-1. So much fun traversing the Santa Cruz mountains in the 1990’s as well as my introductory bike into Road Racing.

Cool thread! 👍
