Thanks for the post, haven't been on here for a while. Got an '01 in the shed zero hours in preserving oil since new. Storage mode and all the books. Had plenty of fun on the green 500's over the years, they get along Ok too.

Love my steely '01 CR500 I've had the last 5 years. After riding 450 four-strokes the last 15 years, it feels so manageable. Plenty of torque and definitely off-road friendly. The 86-87 Honda line were ahead of their.time. Beautiful bikes that performed as good as they looked.

I bought one new in the fall of 1986, with a few races still left in New England. I hadn’t even seen pics of it, and when I saw it in person I was blown away. I think it was the best production bike (as were all the 1987 CRs) of all time vs the competition. $2900 out the door. Loved it, it was my first 500.
