I bought one on closeout a few years ago and it fit just as you described. I’d been wearing Arais for the previous three or four years and had crashed pretty hard l, got knocked out and broke four ribs.....again. So I wanted to save some money and ordered the TLD. Love the way they look. I gave it to my nephew and bought another Arai.

Resurrecting this thread, I’m having the same problem with the TLD SE4 I just bought. Beautiful helmet, super lightweight…but pressure at the forehead. I’m usually a medium in Arai & Shoei, but according to TLD’s website, I’m at the top of the size range for L. Previous posters indicated that they had the same For head pressure problems both in large and extra-large, the larger size not actually fixing the problem.

My question in regards break in. Has anybody noticed this pressure point going away after wearing the helmet a couple times? I’ve been wearing it around the house to try and get it to break in, but naturally I’m not sweating and it’s not bouncing around. I’m just curious as to whether or not anybody has had this problem go away after a few rides? It otherwise fits very well everywhere else but the forehead is just a bit tight.

i rode with mine a few times and no, it did not get one-bit better. I sold it right away, went to a Bell Moto 9 Flexx and its been great, albeit on the heavy side.

With that TLD, I was constantly trying to fidget with it to get it to be comfortable while riding, but when a helmet fits right, you don't think about it at any point. I'd recommend selling / returning it and going a different route.

I read your earlier comments on the SE4, and it looks like we pretty much have the same head size, and same problem with the SE4. Ironically, I have a brand new Moto 9 Flex sitting in a box, but preferred the graphics and light weight of the SE4. The Bell in a sz L fits perfectly, whereas the SE4 just has that little bit of tightness that I suspect is going to have me fiddling with it constantly. I love the looks of the SE4 and am ambivalent about the looks of the Flex, but we know how that goes.

Have had helmets that take a little bit to “break in” and was hoping this would be the same, but with your commentary, and all the other, similar comments, I think I’m going to sadly return the TLD and wear the Bell, and call it good.

Worth noting: with my Moto 9, I am using a Medium liner with Large cheek pads. Not quite sure the mm measurement of the cheek pads, but they're a little thinner than the cheek pads that came in the Medium liner kit. Excellent fit for me.

Also I JUST received an email from TLD teasing their new SE5 due in January. But obviously given their fitment history, you better try it on first.

Caveat emptor with the SE5, for sure. That being said, I bought the Bell because it was 50% off. I bought the TLD because it was a perfect match for my bike and leathers, and ticked off all the more important buttons. In addition, I got a screaming deal on it. I’m not willing to spend $600 on a Mx helmet when they go on sale and I don’t have to! Lol

Thanks again for the input. 👍

I had to give my SE4 to my son. I wore a M in Arai, and after trying on the TLD went to a large. Even so, it's too tight behind the ears and gives me headaches and neck problems. Probably high blood pressure, shingles and brain damage too. Sorry Troy, it's not a great helmet, at least not for me.
It's a shame, because I love the looks and the attention to detail.

So where does one see this mythical SE5?

Drain Bramage? I’m not sure how much more of that I can sustain, so clearly I better just stay away from the SE4. Lol.
It’s a pity, as the helmet fits well everywhere except at the forehead. And as KGAspeed mentioned above, it’s not really going to go away. :/

Thanks Mav. No idea how I missed that.

This thread just highlights the need to try on a helmet before buying. Everyone has slightly different shaped heads and no one helmet will work for everyone. Although several posts have complaints about the fitment of the SE4, for my head it is absolutely perfect. 6D, Bell flex, Fly Formula, Shoie VFX, I have tried them all, nothing fits my head as well as my SE4 carbon. Interesting enough, for kicks I tried on a TLD air at the dealer and it doesn't fit the same as the SE4. So even within a brand, double check a helmet fits well before you buy. I hope the SE5 fit is identical to the current SE4 and I will purchase it next.

Very true. Thankfully good online vendors have a generous return policy…although nice to try them on in person, first.

Same with my SE4 Carbon in Large. Tried 2-3 hours and gave up. Got it on Ebay too. Very light helmet and extremely well vented though.
