The problem with your reasoning is that they are by all accounts Americans now. That is what is so unique about us, we all came from somewhere else, but are held together by the common bond that we are now American. That is what the 4th of July is about. Putting aside the differences of where you come from and celebrating the fact that all people within our boarders get to enjoy the same great freedoms and endless opportunity available to them.

Why would I contribute to deepen the American talent pool? We have problems of our own with the talent pool here. Thank you for haveing great faith in my geenes though. One other problem is that we dont have the same customs as you rednecks, banging and lending out mothers and sisters or lending out or tradeing our wives for half a gallon of moonshine or whatever your currency is, its not how we do it in the civilized world.

It's not like the field was stacked against the FIM riders. Only four of the ama guys were really expected to be capable of being in the top five and two of them are hurt. that leaves Dungey and Weimer.

Who else would be there with Pourcel, Searle, Metcalfe, and Rattray? With Canard and Stroupe there would likely be three ama riders in top five, if two of the FIM guys went down there would probably be one FIM rider in top five. Just like what we have with Dungey.

How would the GP points look if we could have had James, Ricky, Alessi and KW there?

Yep, CP,Searle,Rat & Metty have all become great Americans.
I cannot believe that the Euro&GP fans are not bitter about losing such great riders to our American series.

Lets see, a couple of seasoned world champions and a runner up, all in the 20's, racing against a bunch of American teenagers straight out of the amateur ranks in what is essentially our entry level pro class. Who would you expect to be up front?

I guess the talent drain from the GP's to the US is why a 15 year old won the German GP a few weeks ago.

Dungey and Pourcel are in a league of their own. Weimer is fast but inconsistent. The rest are just fighting for the scraps.

Tyla Rattray 25 former world champ
Christophe Pourcel 22 former world champ
Brett Metcaf 25 ran in the top 3 how many years?
Tommy Searle 20 # 2 in the world last year.

Look at the Americans,

Jake weimer is the oldest American at 22.
The rest of the fast Americans are 19 or younger. 3 of the Amercans that have beat the Euros are rookies.

If those guys werent cherry picking I seriously doubt 3 of those guys even smell the top 5.

I would hardly call Pourcel a Vet. You would have to be pretty stupid to expect him to come here and race the 450's after all that he has been through. You could definitely say that about Metcalf. Probably Rattray too.

Usaully you make sense, but did you read my post? THE REST OF THE FAST AMERICANS, meaning the top 5 are 17-19, barr Weimer.

I read that LLs post and even stood up for thr euros in that thread. I aqm not as strupid as most here, i know how fast the GP guys are. What I am trying to say is that right now the 250 class Americans are young, all those GP guys have YEARS over most of the Americans.

You have more knowledge than most on this site but that world championship is looked at by a good number of people on this board as "No Big Deal" and not worthy of the respect that it deserves and that's what irritates me.

Great riders here in the states and across the pond and any true fan of the sport should acknowledge that.

Well Jim you and I both agree but just said it two different ways.

I really dont think there is an American competeing in the 250 class that would go there and win that class their first year out. Those guys are fast, and have a lot of adversity every week.

A young American kid would go there and complain the whole year.

I think you're confusing statements. The statements I've seen are generally that the U.S. SERIES is superior to the Euro one in terms of talent.

And the fact that the top French, Australian, British, South African, etc., riders are in the U.S. racing prove this point to an extent.

I don't think I'm confusing anything. Nobody was giving Searle or Rattray a chance before the outdoors started. Pourcel had come over and won a Supercross before so his speed was known in advance. Metcalf isn't much of a surprise really. If anything he could be considered the cherry picking veteran of the group.

But anybody that was predicting Searle and Rattray to be running up front and/or in the top five for points got shouted down pretty hard.
