400 for each manufacturer (800 counting 250's) is the rule. 3600 is one class only, double it for 250's. It's ridiculous.
2023 we should have at least 9 makes.
Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, KTM, Husqvarna, Gas Gas, Beta and Triumph
Seems like an obsolete rule to me. New manufacturer's have to go to MXGP to be welcome.
Why not encourage growth in the AMA? Series promoters have the power to do this and more. Don't misdirect your anger towards the AMA. How many bikes do you really need to make a viable production rule?
TM, Sherco, Jotagas, Reiju, Fantic, BRC, Cobra, Zero, Sur Ron, GPX, Bombardier, Harley, Indian, Aprilia, SSR and more might want to play if the barrier to entry wasn't so high. RIP Cannondale and Alta never made it.
With 2 new manufacturer's on the horizon, this subject is timely again. We can assume both of them are willing to build the minimum, but why not let other's in? Everyone is always crying there aren't enough jobs for riders...

Remember when Japanese bikes were a laughing stock? Just keep laughing at the Chinese bikes. Who do you think builds most ofl the Japanese/Austrian/ maybe Italian parts?
What are you worried about if they can't finish, you shouldn't be scared to let them in then? That basic bike was run by MCR in SX last year. Sure it would need massaging, but for $4999 you could afford to.

This thread is about a production rule not works bikes.(That's for another thread..)
Not a single person has addressed the question yet.. How many bikes are needed? It seems like 2 for every pro license holder (I don't know the exact number) would be plenty?
The few brands that don't race but build a competitive bike, could if they wanted to.

That comment is so dumb you must be trolling.

The AMA 400 unit homo rule really sucks balls. Of course the AMA claims they have nothing to do with Pro racing...

I remember when this site was full of 2 Stroke Terrorists, but it seems like they have accepted their 2nd class fate in MX?
So what's the fix? Serious question, what is the downside of cutting the number in half?
