I'll be going back to the Holy Land for the first time in about 16 yrs.

Last time I think I recall renting a car in the Bronx, I'll never forget speeding along the Brooklyn Bridge barely making the midnight cutoff time to bring the car back with minutes to spare.... WHEW it was close.

Anyway hoping to have a better plan. Will be visiting some family in Manhattan, arriving tuesday and leaving Monday.

My Cuz suggested taking the train to White Plains and renting a car outa there. That would entail bringing some luggage along. By the time I do that it might not be worth it.

Any other suggestions?

Oh and the OTHER SIDE SUCKS!!!!!!

Ahh the days when Keith worked the box van with Hannah

Howerton surfing...

Climbing the wall...

Lackey over the top

Starting the day with a little grass...

The train ride to white plains will take longer than the drive to get there from the city. The race is on Saturday, that should give you a bunch of time to get the rental back, just don't let Lwarence drive it anywhere and shouldn't have anything to worry about

Well thanks for the info, but give me some alternatives. Not sure if renting a car in NYC is a good option or is it?

"stayin with family and then renting the car on friday to go up"

Yes that is the plan. Find a small hotel within a close distance to the track. We did it before.

Then driving back sat maybe rent another hotel sat night.

Return car Sunday. Back to Manhattan. Then fly out Monday.

thx

IDK about practice, but there was a farm-equipment national there on 13-14 June. To my knowledge, they've never had a practice on the big track, other than the SATRA ride the day after the National.

Upper or lower manhattan?(im assuming lower if you rented in the bronx before!) might be cheaper to rent a car in jersey city or hoboken and take the path train in and out of the city. Let me kno.

Well just to show I how clueless I am about NYC I'm not sure.

My Cuz lives in an apt overlooking Madison Square Garden and has a direct view of the Empire State Building. He's upgraded since the last time we were there as now it's a 2 bdrm dealio. It's crazy to think what he pays for that.

thx for you're help.

You may be able to find something in Norwich, NY, but I'd get about booking it soon. Thank God, I'll be able to sleep in my own bed for this one.

We found an old motel that wasn't too far away. Wish I could remember it. I do know they had a thunderstorm that night and it was one of the LOUDEST ones I ever heard.

Norwich, Ny is the place to stay. Utica is #2 choice, but is further from the city, though it has more hotels. What airport are you coming into? Getting rental cars in NYC (the city itself) are super expensive, as are getting them from local airports. Try Priceline for the car and name your price, i have had good luck with that option as of late.

Thanks Nick, I think we stayed in Utica last time.

Flying into LaGuardia Airport on Tuesday than staying in Manhatten until Friday then renting a car. Not sure where to rent a car from but thanks for the advise.

Nice crash pic! lol
