David Bailey is a great mx announcer and its good to hear him back in the booth, but I also like Emig as an announcer. He has a fine grip on whats going on w/ the racers during the race and having been there himself certainly qualifies him to be an "expert" on the subject .Whats next,"bring back Art Eckman and Dave Despain??.....hehehehe. Oh kudos to DB for being the Ironman he is.

Bailey would be a truly inspiring person whether or not he was involved in moto. He's one of those rare people that come along every once in a while who never let the "impossible" get in the way of what is possible.

On another note, Emig was actually quite good doing the colour for Lakewood, I actually thought he was better at it than he is at the indoor stuff, but I sure missed DB!

Damn, I live in Lubbock and my neighborhood is less than a mile from where they do all of that stuff. I had no idea he was doing it.

I found this little nugget yesterday ( link at bottom) If you click on the camera icon just above the photos it will take you to the video.

We are so stoked for David, he was worried last week that with all his tv stuff he's been doing his training was suffering and that he might not be able to get it done in the race, well he did, Amazing..... I'm rembering our converstation last October 12th on Sunday morning in Kona after Ricky had just completed the Ironman the night before. David and I were in the lobby of the hotel and he was getting ready for a morning handcycle ride, he said you know Rick I'm just going to take a little (60 mile) ride out to the airport and back and reflect on what Ricky just did and my past Ironman events, 3+ hours later David rolled back into the hotel with a big ass smile on his face and said I'm doing it, I'm gonna come back and do Kona again. We'll it's been 9 years since he was last there and this past Sunday in Lubbock he just solidified his spot. Can't wait to watch him in the "Big One" this comming October. Oh and Mark, Ricky said the same thing Sunday night, " Dad I guess we better get some plane tickets for Hawaii....

That's awesome.

A while back when I went to his house to shoot his video message about neck protection, it wasn't long after his surgeries, and I remember just how much effort it took for him to sit up in bed throughout the videotaping.

That's cool to hear that he's headed back to Hawaii. Of course, if you've shaken hands with him lately, you know he's been back on it. He's got the iron grip. Smile

Just a great story!!! It was totally awesome to see him ride Ricky James's bike but the aftermath of that was brutal. It's unbelieveable that he is going to Hawaii.

DB is truly a badass. BUT......what will happen when he, Ricky James and perhaps Doug Henry(just a thought) all end up on the starting line again? I can only imagine Henry would push the limits himself. Very cool. Go David!

For the same reason you feel you need to come here and stir a little shit from time to time. It's what makes life worth living I guess.

Gotta have goals.

Get busy living or get busy dying.

what else......................?

yup! I remember the video you shot for his leatt awareness.. i got one from him the next day! His son has been a friend of mine since elementary school and DB has always been a bad ass. He never gives up on anything, and can turn any shitty situation into a learning experience to get better. He is the man. You should get a video interview with him to talk about his journey to where he's at right now for all the vital mxers to enjoy.
