The Dutch should be pretty fast.
USA has a real shot at it too... But if Hampshire goes, will he stay on his wheels?

With France not having DF or RF on a 450, they are no longer 1B... The Dutchies will be the favorite if nobody is hurt or decides not to ride. So now we'll have a 2A, 2B and probably 2C with France, Italy and the US. All capable of winning (as are a few others) if the Dutchies have a bad moto or mechanical, etc. Shit happens, it's why we all love this format and this race.

What I should have said is that no matter what happens with the USA it's going to be a shit show.

If the US wins, we'll have guys saying they only won because the Euro's sent their B/C teams.

If the US doesn't win, we'll have guys saying wow they can't even beat the B/C teams.

And if France doesn't win you'll blame it on Marv. Grinning

Funny that the European riders also don’t want to race MXoN when it doesn’t fit their schedule. Flame on.

I will be surprised if the Dutch have their best team, also.

Musquin rarely set the world on fire at the Nations and didn't always seem very motivated... Not exactly upset when he underperformed. On the other hand, Paulin obviously felt defending the flag was VERY important and always gave eveything he had at that race.
Let's just say that the former federation president had more confidence in Gautier, and some silly "He said/no he said" communication games between the KTM rider and the FFM didn't help.

If the USA sends Barcia, Sexton, and Hampshire, that is a pretty top level team.

and if they win, fantastic.

But - if a strong USA squad wins with the following racers deciding its not worth the risk and they sit it out -

Cairoli
Febvre
Prado
Gajser
Herlings
Geerts
etc

How legitimate is this event as a true team world championship race to determine the fastest country in the world? Isn't that what the history and gravity of this event is all about?

Look, there will aways be a few of the fastest riders missing from this event - but to put this race in the middle of a championship series all but takes most of top guys out of it and it turns into a late season exhibition race.

InSport knew this fact when they built the schedule.

Just sayin'

Seems realistic.

As much as Herlings is prone to throwing himself in the dirt will KTM really want him at MXdN if he is making headway back toward the World Title?

Herlings wants to go, for now.
And KTM is ok with it.

Febvre is 2nd in MXGP points so he likely said no merci.

Vialle is out of the points with his hand injury so this makes sense. Boisrame has crashed a lot so kinda same scenario. This team makes sense logically.

I think we will see many B level Euro teams because of MXGP title concerns.
Does France have their version of a Denny Stephenson that will kick and scream about those riders refusing to go?

We’ll see if that changes if he can get back within 20 points by that time.

On the Troll Train Vlog from Washougal there is a quick clip of the 100% guy telling them he just heard Barcia get asked to go.

I'd say he's probably in.

The USA never sends their top 3 riders and nobody allows any slack for it. Don't see why it should be any different now that the shoe is on the other foot.

Kawi refuses to go if Decoster is team manager and Star isn’t going because they conveniently can’t wait to move from California to Florida until after MXoN

Well since Prado’s and Gajser’s teams have zero chance of being in the top 5 and team Belgium probably being the weakest in years… Febvre is equal to team USA not having Eli…we’re only talking about Herlings and Cairoli who have both said they want to go….The event is as legitimate as it has always been….I suggest you and your asterisks watch something else that weekend…

I mean, he’s not wrong recently. We will send the best 3 that are willing and able to go. It that doesn’t mean it’s the best 3 American racers. October is when new contracts start and SX testing begins. Kawasaki won’t send their riders, other riders don’t want to spend their off season prepping for a race that is poorly timed for our schedule and logistically doesn’t make sense and also cost them more money then they could earn.

I think it was the last MXoN, neither our 450 MX champion or 250 MX champion were on the team due to team restrictions, yet people love to say that the team sent was the best we could’ve done. Best we could send due to reasons and restrictions, yes. Best representation of US Motocross, no.
