Cramping in throttle hand

Raced and ridden all my life, never hand much problem with arm pump just recently on my new bike been cramping so bad in my throttle hand to the point where I can’t feel my hand. Running odi flight bars and pro taper grips don’t know if I should change that up or what direction to go. Anyone else hand anything similar and can help me out at all? Cheers

Have you had your suspension done yet? What bike? Holding on too tight?

Yep as my pappy always says. Start with the cheap fixes. Are you death gripping? Releasing your hand on jumps and breathing? If that’s not it then get some pro taper evo bars. Then move to the bump sticks

New bike, new cockpit.. bar bends’ bar mounts’ seat height’ foot pegs’ ect, sounds like you need to open it up a little.

Bound the problem. Can you ride slower without a problem, or is it so fundamental that just time on the bike induces the problem. If it's speed related, probably death grip. If time related, cockpit ergos.

If I had to guess, it is probably ergo related. Maybe you are not gripping the bike or using your legs as much as you think, and therefore overcompensating with your hands. If that is what it is, then probably seat time on the new bike is all that is needed.

Not yet. And 2021 yz450. I stand up a lot probably do most my sitting down when jumping 😂. Always felt like I been a relaxed rider but maybe am putting to much on my arms! 🤷‍♂️

Have always tried to relax my hands on jumps when I can. But yeah you know how it goes when riding sometimes you tend to hold your breath abit!

It’s just when I start to get into it. Do a few Laps then start to push then can feel it coming

I’d guess bar bend, I was riding with a bend that he more sweep than I was use to (came with the bike) and my hands were hurting, never had that before in years of riding. Tried a bend with less sweep and it’s gone away…

Yep that is just the typical rider brain fart. Need to train yourself to have breathing points on the track as reminders, as well as constantly tell yourself to grip harder with the legs. After a few days it will go away. Ironically, it took me a few years to figure that out lol
