Can't go wrong with Garmin. The Oregon 600 is easy to use and not bulky.

Seems like a lot of guys just use their phone with a GPS app. I use my phone with the Gaia GPS app and love it. Been looking into an actual GPS unit lately but it's hard to beat how easy a phone is to use.

Did you ever end up buying one? I've been looking into them but I'm somewhat limited because I'm on a 2001 cr250 which has no battery and gps units like the Trail Tech voyager pro require a 12v source because they have NO battery life.... a lot of times where I ride I have no signal and the phone won't work. I'm thinking about the Oregon 700 but idk how well the screen works in sunlight and if the trails it has loaded inside are extensive or lacking... I like the Magellan trx7 but my god is that thing huge lol... I made a cardboard cutout so i could get an idea of how it would look and it's kinda ridiculous!!!

You can't go wrong with the Garmin Montana series. You can include the optional topographic maps on certain models, and that is just as valuable as the trail map itself in some cases.

I use the Garmin Montana 680t, and I highly recommend it.

I’ve used ever app available for iPhone’s and love the OnX Off-road app. I also like the OnX hunt one too sometimes because it has more information about the land if I’m preparing ahead of time. By their emails and updates the off-road app is getting better and better.

The Montana 680T is worth the cost. I have one and it is very user-friendly.

Used it for the 1st time, yesterday, while scouting a trail-route from Mono Lake to Bridgeport. I'm impressed.
