It will be interesting because I don’t think many people in America would’ve really paid much attention to Lupino before. He’s one of the more underrated riders in the GP’s for me, he doesn’t really do anything stand out but he’s turned into a really solid and consistent rider over the last few years. I think he should be able to be top 15 no problem.

Butron I’m not sure about, he’s been on the decline for a few years now, I would think he’ll be delighted if he can score a point or two

To be fair I think he is also 2-3 years older. :D

Just cool to see him even ride after his crash in 2019.

Always cool to see Europeans come to the US and give it a try, wether it be a top 5th or 30th guy. Just fuck off if you can't give these guys credit and say shit like "Nobody will even notice or care about them".

I don't post on here much, but I 100% agree with you.

And yes, after his crash, it is great that he is still going.

Just checked Butron's Instagram, he's listed on the entry list, but he won't be attending Pala. It looks like he's still home in Spain.

Side Note: Grinning Sorby's comment.

... I had heard it is hard right now to get a visa into the United States from countries getting hit hard by COVID?

Too bad, I would have really liked to see how Butron stacked up.

In regards to the Eric Sorby comment likening Americans to “Burgers” - anyone who has seen Sorby can tell he loves burgers very much...Unsure

Man I could have beaten Herling with such an advantage. Herling can barely hold the bike, too young, not strong enough.

RC would say that he's the perfect height though.

I beg your pardon? Those short legs are clearly holding him back in the hoops

This guy has quietly been turning himself into an elite motocross racer, he’s getting better with age it seems. Looks like people on this side of the pond will notice this now.

His qualifying time is pretty impressive but I would take note of what Jett Lawrence and Langston said on the broadcast about heater laps.

If he finishes the overall where he qualified then I'll be really impressed. But let's wait until the second checkered flag.

He's had a great day so far... I figured him for 13-15, might have to move that to 10-12 for the overall.

This is fun!!!

Pretty impressive? Flying over here, borrowing a stock bike and putting down a faster laptime (on a track he has never ridden) than the most of the elite factory riders is more than "pretty impressive".

Have you ever seen fast qualifying riders that do not finish well? Not saying he can't, but it's just qualifying.

Jett: "anyone can put down a fast lap"
Grant: "these GP riders tend to be able to put down a fast heater lap but I think he'll find the race more challenging" (or something very similar)

Just wait for the checkers and then you can celebrate.

Really does not matter to me how he finishes. Major props for trying. Hope a ton of ama guys do the same after the nationals in the GP’s since they run until December. Fuck all the USA vs world bullshit in motocross. We ain’t the best and that’s ok.

Whilst I agree that him qualifying 4th doesn’t mean he will finish there in the moto’s, GL is talking out of his arse there. Lupino has never been a one lap raw speed guy. He’s just a good starter, he’s in shape and he’s solid and consistent.

And gl talking about GP rider are better to put down a fast lap is just bs..

Where did GL get idea GP riders are in for one lap? They had years of qualifying races not timed fastest laps like AMA.

Okay, it was very impressive. How about that?

Pourcel used to lay down some serious heaters.

Let's just see where Lupino finishes today. I'm rooting for him.

I really dont get that whole ”races on a track that he never raced on blabla”

As it comes to MXGP riders they often run a couple of series each year. First we have the GP’s, then we have the Dutch series that half of the mx gp feild rides and then we have the Italian championship or what ever championship they run in their home cuntrys.

So they often goes to race on new track and many of the riders have one house / apartment in Belgium and one in their home cuntry. And 99% of the races they run every season is outside of their home country, so this is probably ”just another race” for him apart from the stock bike with his suspension on it..

If he's in the top ten overall come the end of the day, that'd be a win for him. Good speed in qualy!
