I remember after the first time I rode the bike I was wearing a Tech 7. I think it caught on that slightly and pulled the shield out a bit. But I bent it back in and since then every time I’ve ridden it I’ve been in my new SG12s and haven’t noticed it again.

It’s strange because I have the CMT Carbon exhaust shield (it is the OEM form but with carbon materials) and never notice a problem with the new tech 10 or the Fox instinct (i ride with both)...maybe it is related to different riding techniques 🤷‍♂️

I did focus on moving my feet position to the balls of my feet like you are supposed to when I got the new boots defintely helped break the habit. I suspect people who ride on their arches have the issue more

Having this same issue with 250F and Instinct boots. One time, it could have ended really bad, but the luck was on my side. Will be trying to modify the shield this weekend to prevent this from happening again.

I talked to Kris Keefer about this issue earlier this week. He told me I can try to bend the heat shields in a little so it doesn’t catch and it did help him.

I did take shields off and hammered them closer to pipe and took shims away from back. Had to shorten screws also. Now they are almost touching pipe but boots are not catching. On right side i took whole shield away.

It doesn't even bother me, to be honest. I never really noticed it as an annoyance or consider it to be that big of a deal. I ran the Cycra Powerflow should/airbox set-up on my previous-gen model and on my '21 I have the No Toil cage-less set-up and it never even crosses my mind. It's weird that so many people complain about it, since to me I don't even think about it. The exhaust, I can at least understand, since it is very loud and raspy. But the intake noise seems like way less of an annoyance. I actually like how the bike sounds, in general and it doesn't annoy me, personally.
How do you like the no toil set up debating between than and the twin air like the price of the no toil just wanna make sure it’s good stuff

I like it. I have no issues with it and don't regret going that route over the Twin Air. It seals great and I just prefer it to the stock tabbed set-up. The filter on the 21 gets hammered and it is always caked. So I just make sure I clean the filter and airbox after every ride. And I suggest getting the wash kit also. Just makes washing the bike/airbox much easier.

Tried out more maps yesterday. Low humidity and about 75*. Perfect conditions really. I first tried the “exciting power” map from Yamaha’s website. It had a bunch of flat spots and odd fueling quirks for me, fair amount of popping too. Then I tried Keefer’s “free feeling” map and liked that one. It ran clean and has nice pull out of corners. Also ran the Keefer “mid-top” map. I really like that one. The bike feels awesome on a nicely groomed track with that. No flat spots or popping either and it pulls all the way to the top. I settled the day on the free feeling in map 1 and the mid-top on map 2. Think those are what works best for me so far.

Running E10 93 octane pump gas, and stock exhaust and air filter setup for what it’s worth.

Around 24 hours or so, I was getting a little pop coming off wide open. I had to change the plug because I fouled it upon start up. Swapped in a new one and that tiny pop went away. Weather that day was like 65 low humidity. Ive ridden in colder and hotter/humid days and it wasnt ever there.

I really like the Free Feeling map also. I also like the Preston 21 mid/top. I usually go back and forth between those as my main map. And then I actually liked Exciting Power as my secondary. That or the MXA Hard Low.

My Bike is mostly stock and runs on Rengade HRP97 fuel.

Anybody else still waiting for their 21 to come in? I put a deposit on one back in April. I got the last blue bike that was coming in. Ive asked the dealer a few times through email, if hes heard anything on when the bike will show up. He just replies with a robot of "expected to ship in May"... last time I emailed him was May 7th. This guy made it out like the bike is just going to show up at his dealership one day and I find that very very hard to believe in this day and age LOL. Now we are starting June lol. I never signed anything when I put my deposit down and all the guy did was email me the invoice, which even says expected to be delivered in May. I've bought a few bikes off of this guy, but he can be very rude at times. The inpatient side of me wants to tell him to pound salt when the bike does actually come in LOL. The excited side of me can't wait to ride it LOL. I ordered a new pick up over the winter time and was able to follow it every step of the way, all the way to when I picked it up at the dealership. That's why I find it hard to believe they don't know when the bike will be in.

I got the last Monster Ed that my dealer was getting. Waited a couple months. Dealer told me that they sometimes don't always know that status of it's whereabouts but usually roughly when it ships, then do get an update when they hit the USA. I got an email when mine departed from Tacoma, WA and got a call to come pick it up almost a week later. So essentially, if he hasn't heard anything yet then it's possible that it hasn't shipped. Or maybe he's just not wanting to deal with it and will just tell you when it's ready. Seems VERY late though, for a 21 to not have arrived, let alone shipped.

I had the option to get a monster edition and i think it would have been here sooner as well. The dealership even has one more monster edition, coming in June, that isnt spoken for yet. Sadly their was 2 or 3 people ahead of me, at the time I put down my deposit.

Its weird how these dealers are half left in the dark when it comes to incoming shipments. My dealer did say something similar to what you said. Like you said, he might just be waiting for it to come in and then he will let me know. Tomorrow is their first day back open after the holiday weekend, so I will give him a call.

Sent my suspension out for revalve/spring. .49 fork spring, thing is stiff! Sag is right around 104 on what I believe to be the stock spring. Feeling harshness from fork, but it isnt worse than before, just much higher in the stroke now.

Bike feels like the shock is a little soft and it wallows under hard acceleration, also bottoms on a couple g-outs and landings.

Opened fork comp 2 clicks to try and take some harshness out, not super helpful and get some pitching under hard braking. I think I need to make shock stiffer, should I increase HSC or LSC to get a little more weight on the front tire dynamically? Also hoping the fork springs break in and soften a little, I have 4 hours on them so far.

*My local is a big track with really horrible dirt, its like a gravel driveway and gets gnarly square edged braking/acceleration bumps. In between these bumps is mostly smooth dusty hardpack with small rocks everywhere. Couple decent ruts in select corners. It's hard to really hammer on the front brake anywhere and pays to roll corners and be super smooth, I still lose the front and crash all the time. Thinking this stuff will feel much better in some even decently loamy dirt. Hasn't been groomed in over a month

You will adjust to the forks. You want the hold up for harsher larger hits. The square edge bumps may require you to go in on the rebound to get more compliance.

The shock sounds soft. Wallowing because it’s low in the stroke. Get your sag to 102-103mm for now and stiffen the HSC. Check rebound as well after a few laps. May need to bump up a spring rate to keep the bike working together front and rear

Talked to the salesman today and now its been pushed out further, expected to ship late june and then another 2 weeks on top of that once it lands in the US. Basically im looking at sometime in July now. I then ask how many bikes were still ahead of me before mine comes in and he said there's another guy waiting before me. He claims they got in 6 yz250f's last month that people had ordered.

Holy crap. That seems super late for a 21. My dealer said they will start taking reservations on 22s in June but he wouldn't expect then until Sept. So if that is true, even if you went with a 22, you might go all summer until it comes in. As long as they aren't hammering you on price for that 21, I'd say it's still worth the wait though.

Thats one of the big reason im starting to get a little impatient lol. Here in NY, your ridding window is usually more narrow than most. I get everything is messed up this year, so it is what it is. I just hate getting jerked around and told different things. Luckily I have 2 other bikes to ride, but im looking for something "different" to ride and the bikes I have dont give me that excitement as much as they use to. I havent had a 250 class bike in 10 years.
