Starcross 5 Soft

Looking to buy a tire.. was thinking of getting a Starcross 5 soft since the track I will be riding is sand and I don’t feel like swapping tires 90 times. (The tracks around me are also soft). How does the Starcross 5 soft hook up in sand? I would like to get a sand tire.. but at 16 I don’t have the cash to pay to replace or feel like swapping back out lol. Any other options for a tire that will hook up good in the sand/soft stuff ? (I’m on a YZ125)

It's a great tire for sand, soft to intermediate dirt. Go for it!

As long as it's truly soft conditions they are amazing. They are like cheating in the mud too. They are a pretty stiff compound though so they don't grip on hard pack very well.

Was going to make a thread but better to post here.
Where I ride normally is a mix of hardpack and loose/loose over hard and I’m running a mx52 in the rear and a hoosier up front and it’s working well..planning on riding some sand tracks and was going to get a starcross 5 sand tire for the rear and just swap the rear when I go to those tracks but I would rather avoid swapping them if I could. Will I be able to get by with a Hoosier rear also in the sand or are there better options that I can still run where I normally ride? The sand tracks are pretty deep sand and it’s a natural terrain track so no water.

I like the Pirelli mx32 mid soft or xc mid soft rear in sand better than the starcross 5 soft or Dunlop mx3s rear.

The starcross 5 soft is a great choice if your riding a sandier track. I’ve been running them now for over a year(multiple sets). They actually wear really well. My go to is a soft front and medium rear. I’ve even taken the medium to the sand pits and it was just fine. Get the soft and you’ll love it.

I didn't like the starcross on the front. Nothing beats the Hoosier imx25 front. Keefer loves starcross front for some reason
