Fork refill

I was wondering if its possible to refill the forks on my 73 TS185. The fork seal is blown, and I just don't have the cash to get it rebuilt right now. I also don't have the tools to tear apart the suspension, so that's off the docket.

You can probably do that. Keep in mind you will continue to lose oil out the seal, so any amount you put in won't last long.
Be careful not to over fill. Your best bet is to loosen the top clamp, then unscrew the cap at the top. There is a fork spring and probably a spring seat pushing against the cap, so be careful. With the cap removed, you can remove the fork from the bike and then collapse the fork (like it is bottomed out,) and add the fork oil. You want the fork collapsed so you cannot add too much and hydro-lock your fork. when you are done, extend the fork leg all the way and screw the cap back on, making sure the spring seat goes back in the way it came out.
I would check that both fork legs have the same amount of oil in them. Adding more will make the spring rate a little stiffer.

Just hope that sucker doesn’t have fish oil in the forks. My dad made the mistake of taking apart a 70’s Yamaha Enduro fork in our garage and the smell lasted for about a week.

The cheepest you could do it is buy the seals and the oil alone. You can use black electrical tape to tap the seals in.

Post some pictures in the tech help section and vital can walk you through the process.
