Considering the way they have all been riding up to this point, I agree with the OP... in the sense that he has the most points. If this season continues the way it has been going, he'll be a 2x champ.

Since when do riders get gates based on random luck? Did they draw straws for gate picks in the main, or did Kenny crash all by himself in his heat and end up getting 14th gate pick?
He gambled and it didn't work out.
With that said, he was right behind Anderson after turn 1 and ahead of AP. Both finished in front of him. The bad start wasn't his only problem. He simply wasn't fast enough

Then Ken should have qualified better. That's part of it right?

Every one hates to admit how good Webb really is.
He's treated like a Villain.

What still blows my mind and i cant get my head around is him and AC are less then 12 months apart. the rivalry growing up together, the way AC come in winning his first pro SX race, dominating webb prior. and now... Webb just turned it all around. lites titles in SX & MX. Des Nations Team rider, 450 SX title.
And now lurking towards another title battle for a possible 2nd championship.
Like seriously.. How does the script flip so much between the two.

Love him or hate him. Webbs proved him self and still gets so much hate.

His personality reminds me of Reed early in his career though. I love it hahahah

And before you down vote.. Im a Kroc and AC fan. I just appreciate Webbs grit and the never give up attitude.

What I like about Webb. He pulls no punches with his words...the "perpetually offended" society we live in doesn't like straight shooters. Remember the "He choked, I didn't" aimed at A/C? He's the Honey Badger of our sport...."he just doesn't give a shit".

One thing for sure, some of the best finishes and races over the last few years have had him involved. He sure makes watching racing fun (well, Arlington1 was a little boring with the run away).

Couple years ago there was all the talk about the "chip on Webbs shoulder". I don't think it's that at all... he is clearly a driven guy who plays the racing game exceptionally well.

My idea a couple years ago was to have an SX title picture/commercial/ad. Frame this in your mind: Webb sitting under the KTM tent, dirty, sweaty, feet up with the #1 red plated bike behind him. To his side, the SX 450 title trophy.......filled with potato chips. The finishing touch...Webb noticing and then flicking a chip off his shoulder with that trademark smirk.

Still pulling for a KR title...but will be happy to see Webb take his 2nd title if it all plays out that way.

The gate pick is 100% on Ken. He went down in the heat right as he was being passed by Barcia. Maybe he was startled to see JB along side him and lost his focus. Ken got the finish he earned.

Ken and Eli both had terrible races last night and can’t afford to give Coop any kind of edge, they need to be better if they want to win the title.
Deserves?

Entitled?

This is all true, and I agree that Webb had been exemplary in how he’s performed, but some people act like it’s been RV/Alessi part two.

Webb did win in amateurs a lot, and was injured there also.

And AC might not have broken all the records like some might have thought, but he’s delivered a lot also. Three close second place 250sx titles, a national title, and class leading speed in the 450s.

Id say with the confidence he just gained after that race.. safe to say Kenny is going to have to drop Webb to get him off the podium if he wants a title shot. We all know Webb with confidence is dangerous

History has shown that Webb "peaks" at just the right time of the season. Can this be considered "race craft", or is it just coincidence? He also manages situations well and rarely does anything foolish. And Roger knows this.

I like Webb but Webb, like everyone else is susceptible to events that can be construed as "bad luck" on the track at anytime.

Well im kinda flip floppin here.....people saw my blowout about Webb around Daytona Time... However these past two races.. This little webber character is a Racer Racer... He's earned my respect.. Doesn't deserve the title. But hes working his ass off for everything so far.

Roczen, needs to gain that Killer Touch.. That webber has.

"Doesn't deserve the championship". What a lame comment. Titles are earned, not handed to the rider who deserves it more because of his „struggles“

Nobody deserves titles... you earn them! And he's doing that.... we're using the word "Deserve" differently....

I was using it as in "Given" without working for it.

Ur using it by definition...I'm using it as a colloquial term.

When web connects the dots he is dangerous as hell. I also love his honesty. “Eli was the fastest guy tonight, but i saw what he was doing behind me and was able to stay ahead of him”

If's ands or buts moment....

I honestly believe Webb would have held the red plate last year but for two reasons. 1. He was sick for the 1st few rounds....2. the gnarly Arlington crash.

Whoever has the most points in at the end is who deserves the title.
Not always, fuel gate!
ROFL...

When all is said and done, he who has the most points after the final round "deserves" the title.

Plain and simple. If I was betting on it? I think today it will be Cooper Webb. But it's far from over. One spoke explosion or something similar and we are right back at it...

I think it was Daniel Blaire (correct me if I'm wrong) who called Webb "The most stubborn rider in supercross".
I thought that was a very unique and accurate way of putting it.
The dude is there to win this thing and in every race he does everything he can to get it. Throttle revving coming into turns, acting like he's gonna torpedo you in a turn to scare you into checking up, careful selection of gate pick, always trying to move up and gain every position possible right up to the last corner on the last lap, making sure that if he holeshots he keeps that lead, being sick fast when necessary, fucking up Kenny's race in the first turn when there's an opportunity, and saying/doing things to mentally rape Kenny.
The dude is a nightmare for the rest of them. Especially Kenny. If Webb wins the title, it will have been won using a number of weapons, and well desrverved. If Tomac or Roczen win the title, it will also be well deserved because they had to overcome that relentless, ruthless number 2.
