So first off this isn't to bash a certain style/type of bike. I still love the 2T, and my current 4T. I know how someone is gonna get mad at this post because of E-bikes and what not. I'm not trying to start a debate but came across this while surfing the Gram and found it interesting. It basically says KTM, Yamaha, Honda may be joining forces to make a universal battery for E-bikes. After reading this, I thought to myself with our current regime in place, the push for electric vehicles ( dirt bike related) will be coming a lot sooner rather than later. My guess is in the next 3 to 4 years. What are your guys thoughts? Here's the link.

I have ZERO knowledge, pure speculation, but I'm guessing KTM comes to market with a more 'competitive' full size
electric dirt bike in the next 8-12 months.

Will there always be? All it will take is one misplaced rule or law and the ebike will have a leg up. It will become a requirement to compete or operate due to unfair policy and thrive despite any shortcomings. It will enjoy a similar unfair advantage to the one that 4-strokes have had since 1998.
But I have ridden an Alta and can say that it certainly performed as well as just about any of my bikes offroad for my use with the exception of range and cost.
That said, it will never make my midweek 4hr offroad ride up the Mtn in NorCal, any trip to the desert in SoCal, let alone the annual Baja Trip. Simply doesn't have even remotely close to the range needed.
But with the politics in CA being what they are, they may be forced upon us before they are ready or can actually accomplish what many of us offroad riders desire for practical use.
While riding the Alta was a different experience, it did perform. Just doesn't have the range needed by most offroad and was cost prohibitive. Lets be honest, dirtbikers aren't Investment Bankers, we are just regular folks and cost does matter.
Hopefully range and cost are addressed before they are forced upon us.

I’d be surprised if the manufacturers all used the same battery in a competition bike
