Stewart rides with slicks: breaks his supermoto cherry

Today, James Stewart took to the pavement aboard a Graves Motorsport-built Factory Yamaha along with all of his traditional sponsors (L&M, San Manuel, Red Bull, Answer, Alpinestars, Oakley, etc) that earned him a supercross title. The day started off a little slow for the champ but by the end of the day Stewart was up to speed and making huge progress in very short time. Check back for more exclusive photos later this week.

Shouldn't all Stewart threads be in non-moto?

I'm sure he would be super fast, but who knows.....smooth = fast on pavement. Sometimes he isn't....(smooth) ...I got to ride SM a few times with Burkhart and got see first hand what smooth and carrying speed is all about.

It's cool his sponsors can get him to a supermoto but not to the Nationals.

Ill be surprised if he doesnt get injured on that thing. Kicking the ass end out coming into a corner on asphalt at those speeds cant become a natural feeling in the amount of time he has to prepare for X games. We've all sen what highsiding can do on those bikes.

A SM bike will end James racing much faster then SX or MX will.

Not sure I like the idea of James taking asphalt samples.

i thought for sure KW would dominate SMX with his smooth style, but he didnt blow everyone away. Im sure Bubba will do fine and a good chance at a podium, but I find a win to be unlikely

Is that just a general racism joke or more specific? Please elaborate Lenny.

Not sure I follow you on this one, but L&M has raced SMX for 2 or 3 yrs now. They have neve raced MX.

Actually the dirt would probably bit him before the pavement. Thats what gave me the hardest time. You are used to having good traction on dirt, but with slicks you don't. The backing it in just comes natural to an mx'er because we are used to the bike moving around. Road racers aren't.

Lol! Well isn't that obvious? No? I mean those guys are champs and/or top riders and have been doing it for years vs. Stewarts first day. Heck, they "might" have their hands full with him on a MX/SX track...maybe...or maybe they'd smoke 'em.

Brooks stated that Stewart's contract only covers sx.the big hoopla why he cant do outdoors....his sponsors only agreed sx only.not contracted to race a non l&m bike(Graves supermoto bike) in any other event but sx.the gp thing is confusing.and the x game thing should only cover sx race.
now l&m agreed to super moto event?
i have nothing against Stewart from racing more ...of any moto event.its just funny how Brooks is ok with the super moto thing.and all those sponsors as well.screw any POTENTIAL injuries in there eyes....get the PUBLICITY first.(given all his practicing on the super moto).

I really really excited to see him race supermoto...I can't wait. It would be awesome for his legacy if he could pull off a win. (and it will be fun to see if his speed can translate to other forms of two wheel racing.)

His sponsors aren't okay with MX, but okay with X-games because they get more exposure in one week (and one location) at the X-gamess, than they would traveling all over the country (12 different locations) all summer racing mx.
