Hey guys I just bought a 06 kx250. It’s been about 10+ years senses I’ve owned a 2 stroke. Last I remember a good gas mix ratio was 32/1. But I’ve asked around an I’ve also hear 40/1.

What is your guys recommendations ??

Depends on jetting and a few other factors.

We run 40:1 in our stock KX250. Make sure to run at least 50/50 pump and race gas if jetting is stock. They will detonate like crazy with pump gas and stock jetting

This is obviously a loaded question, but here's what worked for me wringing my modern YZ250 2-stroke's neck WFO in the desert ...

(1) Maxima K2 @ 40:1 (but I was less nervous doing it at 32:1). But 40:1 proved safe.
(2) Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80/85W and Maxima MTL ... threw in a little extra there ;-)

P.S. There are some great 2-stroke oils out there. Don't let the nutty nuts convince you otherwise (like me, who insists on everything Maxima or Bel-Ray). Really, there's some great product out there, experiment - have fun learning!

I was planning on running full 110 race gas only cause that is what already run in my kx450 but It probably be a good idea to check what the jetting is now on the bike. If don’t mind me asking what jetting are you running on your kx250 ?

I think Maxima Super M and Castor 927 are great oils as well.

I like 40:1 in anything above a 125. For 125's, I like 32:1 still.

I've played with 50 and 60, but I go back to 40 and jet accordingly. As important as the ratio, IMHE, is matching the flashpoint of the oil with the kind of riding you do.

32:1 Amsoil Dominator in my 06 KX250.

In reality, pick a mix and fuel and jet for it and you're fine.

Find out what the bike manufactor recommends and use that. There are many reasons for this, but this is the best starting point. Using any thing else will cause you to change other things to make that ration work.

Side note: do a search on setting the air gap on the KX250, this often helps stay off detonation, makes it easier to start, etc.
