I need a larger tank on my 2019 EXC500. Any pro's and con's on the different makes ? Looking at KTM vs Acerbis vs Clarke vs IMS vs ? 3 gallon vs 4.1 gallon ? Any feedback appreciated, it's not like I can go compare them side by side somewhere. Trying to get the range a over the 200 mile mark, I usually get around 90-100 miles on the stocker before I'll refill. Not sure how much farther I can go because I don't feel like experimenting Laughing
Thanks

I got the Acerbis one for $200 I think it was and I get 200 miles a tank. The first pic is stock and second is with the Acerbis 3.1 gallon.

Got the Acerbis and am happy with it. Don’t like the stock white tank ‘20 EXC 500

The 4.1g will get you over 200miles in a single pull... Your ass might not make it though...

I don't know how folks are going 200 miles on a 3 gallon tank....... hasn't been mine or anyone's experience I know on the KTM/Husq 350 or 500. Just did a Mojave trip this month. The group's mpg ranged from 40-50mpg. Perhaps it's the sand, perhaps my 17 FE350 needs to work harder than a 500, or my fueling is a little rich mid to high, throttle hand stronger... dunno. But I got 41mpg consistently on the trip in the desert. Buddies 20 350 EXC-F got dang near 50 with his map. All the 500's were 45-50 mpg to my knowledge. That's pretty consistent results from our Baja trips too.

So if you really want a true and consistent 200 miles, I believe you need 4+ US gallons. I'll be leaning out my map mid to get that out of 4.5 gallons.

I run the IMS 4.5 on my 17 and wouldn't want a pint less. Ran Acerbis on all my Honda's previously. Personally not a fan of the new Acerbis shape for the big tank on later KTM's as shown below when compared to the IMS shape. Another nice touch on the IMS vs Acerbis on the late model tanks are the metal inserts molded into the tank vs screwing directly into the plastic on the Acerbis. Inserts will in the end be a better set up over the long run. Just my opinion.

If Acerbis still made the 5.1 or 5.3 for the late model KTM/Husqvarnas I'd have that for the big desert trips. Or if the 16 and older tank could be modified to fit the later models... either way I went with the IMS 4.5 as it was the largest available.

Just my opinion and experience, others may vary.

200 miles of jeep road uses a lot less fuel than 200 miles of real desert riding. It's similar to the city/ highway mileage for a car. Disregard the other responses and listen to the Captain, as he has hit the nail on the head (assuming you aren't just gonna ride jeep roads...).
