Hey all
Just wondering what people have used for the 2020-2021 Yz250f for a skid plate for motocross etc.

Was looking at either the works connection titan, or the Yamaha gytr one.

Any thoughts ? I’m leaning towards the gytr as it in my mind should fit the best ?

Also with either do you have to remove anything on the bike for install?

Thanks !

Depends on the amount of coverage you want and the type of material you want. I tend to prefer just a glide plate if anything at all for MX. Offroad, more coverage is always better IMO

Ya I guess a glide plate, looking at plastic also.

Just something to cover the cases and the coolant line etc.

I used the GYTR plastic skid plate that covers the cases and waterpump/hose, it fits great. You need to remove the front engine mounts to install two brackets.

GYTR, Works Connection Titan, or Lightspeed

Had a WC on my 2016. Fit great and easy to put on and take off for oil changes and cleaning.

Those are easy to remove at least. Thanks for the suggestions every one. My 2021 just came in picking it up this weekend. To bad I can’t ride for 3 months though lol.

Won't fit, the FX uses the same skidplate as the WR250F does and that frame has mounts already for the screws.

surprised no one mentioned acerbis. Fit good, easy to remove. pretty tough. Don't let much dirt inbetween. That checks about all the boxes I want in a skid plate.

For my part, i went with the Pro-carbon skid plate.

It is the one used by the factory Kemea Yamaha in MXGP (Geerts, Watson, etc). I havn't try the fitting yet as i just received the bike but the plate looks really nice.

Try and stay away from aluminum and carbon fiber. It will alter the handling of the bike and the CF will break down over time. Run plastic, Cycra makes a great one.

I would go with the Works Connection glide plate. It fits perfectly and you don't have to remove it for oil changes. The GYTR one is good as well but you have to install a bracket on the engine mounts. No big deal.

Whatever route you go, once you get the skid plate installed, you can RTV the bracket in place so removal/reinstall is a breeze.

I run Cycra on Yamahas and Acerbis on Hondas (no particular reason - just standardized that way). Both are great.

Also have a Hyde Racing unit for Honda. I like the slippery mayerial, but direct access to the side bolts isn't straight-on accessible for T-handles. Boo. $120 paperweight now.
