Boots for XL calves

Edited Date/Time 10/27/2020 7:28am
After some middle earth dwarf genetics and calf surgeries I am left with LARGE calves. I have tech 1s but I can’t even get them to close, much less strap. Anyone have a boot idea that allows extremely large calves? Thanks!

gearnes are pretty big around the calf. I had size 12 that were pretty spacious.

2nd vote for Gaerne, I’ve had a couple pairs of the SG12’s and can confirm they have a lot of adjustment for big calves.

Gaerne SG all the way.

I have 20inch calves. I

If you have slim kneebraces you can get away with SG10 / SG11, they have a little bit more
room if you have wide feet too.

If you have big knee braces that go down in the boot you need the SG12.

They have 3 settings on the upper part for adjustment.

If you have wide feet and big calves gaerne is the only way

SG10's are not as big as I expected them to be in the calf, but I do believe I saw Gaerne spec the SG12 for an additional inch possible in the calf

Sg12s accommodated my large calves very well as well as Instincts. My boot of choice between the two is the Instinct as it offers more comfort and feel in the toe box area for me

SG12s and you may need the longer straps. I have large calves and the sg12s are perfect

This is a model-by-model answer, not a specific brand.

There are two models that have adjustable shinplates, to specifically address your issue. On Gaerne SG-12s and Sidi Crossfires, you can relocate the front shinplate to actually INCREASE the calf circumference. This is better than using along

Example of the SG-12:

The Gaerne SG-10 has a different system to accomplish the same thing, you can relocate the upper buckles. Does not actually make the boot larger though. Look here:

Of course there are a lot of models that have longer straps. But that does not really increase the circumference of the boot and sometimes getting the velcro to close is an issue.

Hope that helps.

Check out the Leatt 5.5 flexlock boots. We've had riders with calf circumference of up to 16" with plenty of adjustment still available in the top 2 straps. Also our 1-way sliding velcro helps to get that perfect closure at the top of the boot. Check them out: https://leatt.com/us/explore-moto/boots/

I don't call mine calves, they are cows....

Strange everyone going SG-12's instead of 10's because I think my SG-10's have quite a bit more room than my SG-12's,
