Every bike of mine that Dan touched turned to gold that guy knows his stuff!! I often wonder what he could do for my 2018 AER set up. Is he back in WA doing suspension again? Last I heard he was in Hawaii but I’ve been out of the “loop” so to speak for a few years

I wish Varner did suspension, he sure can tune an engine and get it to you fast.

Enzo for the Yamaha stuff. You can get a killer setup for under a grand. The wait time to ship from NC and back is the only downfall.

Send to Craig at Enzo in Texas. He usually has a fast turn around.

Decent, I'm in good shape but not like I used be when all I did was Moto. I'm good for 6 laps usually, 10 or so when I'm really feeling it.

I have a set being done by EVO right now for my KTM over here in Idaho. I'm confident it is gonna come back exactly as expected and work great.

Enzo HQ in Santa Ana, CA is the only choice IMO. They have so much experience working with the pro teams and privateers with KYB Yami settings.

As stated, the KYB A-kit is essentially coated stock stuff with a couple different internals. They are so close that lots of teams and riders will have the A-kit on their race bikes for the trick look, and revalved stock stuff on their practice bikes. It would be unheard of for someone to have A-kit Showa on their race bike and stock Showa on their practice, they’re too different. Same with stock WP AER vs. Cone Valve.

Hope that helps. I can’t stress how much value there is in having a shop like Enzo do the work, they do so much testing and understand how to make the bike work with you.

While all valid points, I would argue strongly for the convenience and accessibility of having someone local/fairly local do it. There is a dang good chance you end up at the same track as Dan/EVO at some point to ask questions, turn some clickers etc. etc.

I'm sure ENZO has it dialed no doubt, but if something needs changed etc. it's back in a box and back to Cali = 2 weeks of your bike being taken apart. If you go with someone local you can just go ride the same track as them that weekend and get taken care of.

Can't go wrong either way, ENZO is clearly legit, I just always lean toward local for convenience and support.

That’s why I’m leaning towards EVO, the convenience and accessibility aspect. I see Dan a few times a year and would be able to communicate and test much easier. I just hope he can get me the ice blue dlc lol

Also valid points on your end.

I think there are a few variables. If you’re a vet guy looking to get the right spring rate, better hold up and bottom resistance with a good balance, a decent local guy might do the trick just fine. There’s a huge value to the convenience of having them there to help tune with clickers.

IMO where it changes is if you’re a faster guy who truly needs the bike to perform its best. There’s something to be said about working with that many Pro’s over the years (like an Enzo or PC does) that they truly understand how a bike needs to be set up to go fast.

I used smaller suspension companies growing up racing because they would do my stuff for the cost of parts. They wanted to use me for testing to try to figure out what a faster guy needed out of a bike. Enzo and others have done that with hundreds, if not thousands of fast riders over the years.

When I got older and was able to work with Enzo, it blew me away how much faster I could go consistently. My first set up from them felt safer than any other suspension I had ridden with no clicker adjustments.

After my own riding, I’ve been in and out of the moto industry on the tech side. I’ve worked with Enzo on 3 separate occasions, 2 years on Yamahas and 1 year on Huskys (2018). Also with Josh Hill on Yamahas and Altas. Every rider regards Enzo as the best you can get outside of a factory team.

Hope that makes sense, kinda rambled on there.

There is definitely a value to having a local guy, who rides all the same tracks, (and is a riding buddy) when contracting your suspension work out. He is readily available, and even at times, when I can't articulate what I'm feeling, he'll do a moto on my bike. Good stuff, that EVO.

You’re mistaken my friend, DLC is evolving yet again. I’ve talked to both motowhips and Luxon about their new DLC offerings. Blue, green, and rainbow are now offered alongside traditional black

Honestly I just want to build the best suspension I can on my budget.

I was quoted $750 for front and rear if disassembled

The plan is to do a “B-kit” build on my next bike. My question is what direction would the fine people of vital do? I’ve ridden plenty of A-kits and well built pro bikes but never anything done specifically for me beyond a revalve. So my question is what would you do to your suspension given roughly a $2500 budget, give or take.
Set it and forget it, riding lessons.

Reading the link it looks like the color is over the traditional black and has a very limited life expectation. Personally I think I'm gonna go gold when I get the right lottery ticket.Silly

$2500 and some patience and a lot of searching could get you the real deal A-kit. I think I’ll be close to that with Enzo set up cost. And that’s with team only wide billet lugs
