Looking for a knee brace... that's not a brace.

So I've typically worn knee pads, or nothing. And lately it's been nothing because I'm over the pad constantly shifting around while riding. Only way around it is cranking it down so tight that it's uncomfortable.

I like how braces more so stay put but I'm not overly fond of the restriction in movement they bring (I know, that's their purpose).

My question is this - is there a knee brace that is a "bad" brace but serves as a comfortable knee pad?

Open to knee pad options as well but being that stuff is closed or things aren't in stock, I'd have to order online and don't want to waste money trying 5 different items just to end up back at square one.

Cliff Keen Air Brace.
After my knee surgery I needed some extra protection for a few of my hobbies, but in judo and jujitsu hard braces aren't allowed. Found the air brace (actually designed for wrestling), and really like the extra bit of support it provides for both moto and martial arts.

Leatt knee protection is tits. I started with the duel axis then upgraded after a few years to the next tier, which still aren’t full blown knee braces. More like wrap around knee pads.

Leatte is like that. My buddy loves his. I’m a Eva tp199 and they are really good, they don’t move at all.

They’re super comfortable and I have had mine for about 8 or so years. I can’t really say how I first felt with them because I’ve had them so long but I don’t recall anything that really bothered me about them you might have to adjust your boot straps a bit.

*edit* actually one hinge came apart on the left side but a zip tie strategically tucked into where the fastener once was has been holding it together just fine for a few years now and didn’t cause any figment issues or discomfort. forgot about that

I tried on numerous types of knee guards and braces but none compared to the comfort of the TP199’s have used them on the track a couple times don’t move and great support and padding on inside and outside of knees...did buy a pair of Answer Pivot knee guards also ...haven’t ridden with
Them but seems like a bit more protection in Rocky conditions since they are molded plastic...And bulky in knees I wear size 32 pants bit tight in the knee area...Good Luck

I have run the least dual axis for about 6 years, the only thing I did to make them more comfortable was remove the bottom strap. It was slightly uncomfortable after I strapped my boots up, and the pads don't move because the boot is holding them in place. I recommend these knee guards.

Yes it is.

TP199’s for the win!

It’s basically a compression sleeve style knee brace with hard external padding.

Edit: just felt my 199’s the knee pad is hard but flexible. Hard to describe. Not sure what it is. But it offers great protection.

Another recommendation for the Leatt Dual Axis knee/shin guards. Tried a couple of the well known knee braces but just couldn't comfortable with them. Tried these and were a game changer for me.

Another TP199 recommendation. I prefer the ones with the shin guards, they seem to stay in place a little better. My previous set of knee pads moved all over the place. Constantly had to readjust them, eventually quit wearing them because of that. Then one day I dabbed my leg and slammed my knee into the bars real good... My buddy suggested the TP199s and I don’t ride without them now.

Tp199 knee/shin user here. Super comfortable and they don’t slide up or down.

Believe me, I don't feel right without anything there, I genuinely feel like I'm playing with fire.

Honestly, for the price I think I'm going with the TP199. I love that it has a compression sleeve. Might just get both and use the dual axis for racing. Both sets would still be half price of most braces.

I'm 6'6", so trust me when I say I'm paranoid about knee and back stuff 😂

I run the leatt dual axis knee guards and I like them. They usually try to slide down some but not too bad. I wear knee brace socks with them. They perform very similar to the fox titian pro guards I had before.

I bought the evs tp199 knee guards for my 9 year old son and after seeing them and how they work I am wanting some for myself.

Came here just to recommend these.

I've been using these all year as well and really like them. I've never had a pair of knee pads or braces that I've liked enough to wear more than a few times until I started wearing the SX1.
